沖縄県糸満市にある「糸満海人工房・資料館」の見学を機に、糸満海人の歴史についてお届けします。
糸満という村の成り立ち、糸満が生んだ水泳ゴーグルの元祖「ミーカガン」、魚売りの女性達「カミアチネー」、年季奉公の働き手となった子供達「ヤトゥイングヮ」など、部分的とはなりますが、紹介していきます。
「漁業」という産業の歴史を通じて、糸満というひとつの村がどのように発展していったのかを知ることができるのは、とても貴重だと感じています。沖縄の今後を考える上でも、非常に重要なポイントだと考えています。
