函館の美味しい塩辛としても人気の「小田島水産」。大正3年創業という老舗で現在では日本で唯一となった、昔ながらの木樽仕込みによる製法を守り続け、その変わらぬ美味しさを今に伝えています。併設されたイートインのバルでは、塩辛の食べ比べセットを楽しめるほか、工場見学も実施。さらに工場内にはイベントスペースを設け、ジャズライブが行われるなど、地域の人たちが集うコミュニティの場としても親しまれています。地元の大学と連携した街歩きイベントへの協力など、次の世代のチャレンジを応援する姿勢も印象的です。今回は、社長の小田島隆さんにインタビュー。工場見学の様子とともに、伝統の味を守りながら新しい挑戦を続ける想いを伺いました。長年培ってきた歴史と、新しい風を取り入れる柔軟さ。その両方で函館を元気にしている小田島水産の魅力を、たっぷりとお届けします。
