モダンであるとは流行ではなく、状態である。
ル・コルビュジエのこの一節を初めて読んだとき、僕はその短さに似合わぬ深さに息を呑みました。モダンとは“新しいもの”ではなく、“いまという状態”を生きることだという。その意味を少しずつ紐解いていきたいと思います。単なる美学やデザインの話ではなく、彼が生きた時代の精神そのものがこの一文に凝縮されているように感じます。
