「いじわるな継母と、その連れ子にあたる義姉妹にいじめられていた気立ての良い娘が神の恵みを受けて、やがて長者の妻になる」このフォーマットは「紅皿欠皿」と呼ばれ、少なくとも江戸時代には黄表紙（読み物）や歌舞伎などでよく知られていたようです。
シンデレラだなあ、と思うかもしれませんが、実はシンデレラが日本に輸入されたのは明治33年です。「おしん」という娘が弁天様のご利益で殿様に見初められ、落とした扇を手掛かりに、殿様に娶られるというアレンジが加えられました。つまり、紅皿欠皿はシンデレラ由来ではなさそうです。
そう思うと紅皿欠皿は、いわゆる「なろう系」の追放令嬢モノほうに近い気がします。
