本作中では、柳田國男は「蓮台野」と呼んでいますが、「でんでら野」のほうが一般的に知られているため、タイトルと文中の呼称が異なります（蓮台野と書いた理由もしっかり研究されていますが、本稿では割愛します）。
2024年の冬に、山口のでんでら野に行ってきました。
山口のでんでら野は、生活集落のすぐ近く（本当に、びっくりする程すぐ近く）にあり、山口の美しい田園風景が一望できました
粗末な藁小屋が、少しの説明と共に建てられていました。捨てられた老人の記憶が土に染み込んでいるような、とても寂しい場所でした。
