〔在撒下七章十二節〕『你…的後裔』就字面說，是指大衛的兒子所羅門，他在舊約裏建造殿作神的居所。（王上五5，八15～20，代上二二9～10，二八6。）然而，按希伯來一章五節下半（那裏引用了撒下七章十四節上半），大衛的後裔實際上就是基督作神的長子，（來一5上，6，）兼有神性和人性，在這裏由所羅門豫表。（聖經恢復本，撒下七12註1。）
撒下七章十二節論到『後裔』以及十四節論到『我的子』的話，含示大衛的後裔要成為神的兒子，也就是說，人的後裔要成為神聖的子。這符合保羅在羅馬一章三至四節的話，論到基督是大衛的後裔，在復活裏，在祂的人性裏被標出為神的兒子；…也關聯到主在馬太二十二章四十一至四十五節所問的問題，論到基督如何既是大衛的子孫，又是神的兒子作大衛的主—一個奇妙的人，一個兼有神、人二性的神人。這些經節清楚揭示，人的後裔，就是人的兒子，能成為神的兒子。神自己這位神聖者，成了人的後裔，一個人（大衛）的後裔。這後裔就是神人耶穌，耶和華救主，（太一18～21，提後二8，）單憑祂的神性，祂就是神的兒子。（路一35。）藉著祂的復活，祂作為人的後裔，也在祂的人性裏成了神的兒子。（撒下七14註1。）
