کیوں یسوؔع نے عیدِ فسح سے ایک روز پہلے پطرؔس کے پاؤں دھو ئے؟ اُس کے پاؤں دھونے سے تھوڑی دیرپہلےیسوؔع نے فرمایا،’’ تو اب نہیں جانتا مگر بعد میں سمجھے گا۔‘‘پطرؔس، یسوؔع کے شاگردوں کے درمیان سب سے اچھا شاگرد تھا۔ وہ ایمان رکھتا تھا کہ یسوؔع خداوند خداکا بیٹاتھا اور گواہی دی کہ یسوؔع مسیح تھا۔جب یسوؔع نے اُسکے پاؤں دھو ئے، تویقیناً ایسا کرنے کی اچھی بھلی وجہ تھی ۔ جب پطرؔس نے اپنے ایمان کا اقرار کیا کہ یسوؔع مسیح تھا، تو اِس کا مطلب تھا کہ وہ ایمان رکھتا تھا کہ یسوؔع نجات دہندہ ہے جو اُسے اُس کے تمامترپاپوں سے نجات دے گا۔
