خانه کلانتر در ایام ناصرالدین شاه، زندان گروهی از اصحاب حضرت باب بود. طاهره به دستور میرزا تقی امیرکبیر و سپس میرزا آقاخان نوری بیش از دو سال در آنجا زندانی بود. پس از مدتی، مردم و خصوصا شاهزاده خانم‌های قاجار که متوجه حضور ایشان در آنجا شده بودند، طاهره را به اتاق بزرگ‌تری منتقل کردند. به دستور امیرکبیر، ماموران باید بر حرکات طاهره نظارت کامل می‌داشتند و هرگز اجازه نمی‌دادند که کاغذ و قلم نزدش باشد.
