آوریل ۲۰۰۶، توی شهر وِیکو تگزاس، مراسم تشییع جنازهای داشت برگزار میشد که تقریبا برای همه مردم شهر مهم بود. کاری بِیکر، همسرِ کشیش معروف و محبوب شهر، بخاطر غم از دست دادن فرزند یکسالهاش،خودکشی کرده بود و حالا تقریبا همه مردم، اومده بودن توی سالن تا به متیو بیکر، تسلیت بگن.
کشیش خوش اخلاق، مهربان و کسی که تونسته بود جوونهای زیادی رو جذب کلیسا کنه.
اما فقط ۵ ماه طول کشید تا یه شایعاتی توی شهر بپیچه - شایعاتی که میگفت کاری بیکر نه تنها خودکشی نکرده، که به قتل رسیده. اون هم توسطِ کشیش معروف و محبوب شهر، همسرش، مت بیکر.
