الجزء الثاني من قصة عنوانها العدالة بمحض الصدفة. طلب رئيس الشرطة من مساعده أن يخرج ٢٠ سجينًا تجهيزاً لإعدامهم، لكن أحد السجناء تمكن من الهرب. خوفاً من أن يتهم بالرشوة، اعتقل المساعد رجلاً بشكل عشوائي ووضعه مكان السجين الهارب.
في اليوم التالي في وقت الإعدام، توسل الرجل الأبزاعجي أن يسمعه، وأخبره أنه بريء، وبالفعل فقد صدَّقه الأبزاعجي. لكن حدث شيء آخر غير مجرى القصة بطريقة عجيبة.
