Publisher's Summary

The best days of your life might be still to come…

When 73 year old Jen announces that she is going to marry Eddie, a man she met just a few months previously on a beach on Boxing Day, her four best friends from aqua aerobics are flabbergasted.

The wedding is booked and, when the groom decides to have a stag trip to Las Vegas, the ladies arrange a hen party to beat all others -a week in the city of love, Paris.

From misadventures at the Louvre, outrageous Parisian cabarets, to drinking champagne with a dashing millionaire at the casino, Paris lives up to all their hopes and dreams. But a week can change everything, and the women that come home have very different dreams from the ones who got on the plane just days ago.

Funny, fearless and with a joie de vivre that reminds you to live every day like it’s your last. Judy Leigh has once again written the perfect feel-good novel for all fans of Cathy Hopkins, Dawn French and Fiona Gibson

What an absolute gem! Delightful funny story.

This story often had me laughing out loud. It was well put together and narrated satisfactory, a bit hard to carry off so many voices so the acting wasn’t dynamic. A nice timeline of five strangers meeting, befriending and finally living together. Paris sounds like fun and if I was a bored widow I hope it would entice me. The aftermath of the trip was predictable but fully relevant. I’m not a Mills and Boon reader and wouldn’t choose romance as a genre but this was funny and entirely acceptable.

Just a delight

As I listened to this book I couldn't keep the smile off my face with the occasional spontaneous giggle. The antics of 5 70yr old women seems like a boring topic but it most certainly was not.

Great narration and believable character driven story.

A holiday of enlightenment

The five French hens go to France to celebrate Jen’s hen night before she marries.
France was the best holiday for all of them, and opened their eyes to possibilities in their lives, other than seeking comfort in marrying again for love and companionship in their old age.
Della was the only one that had a happy marriage.
Tess was married to a ‘golf-tragic’.
Jen was a widow and was engaged to Eddie, who in my opinion just wanted someone to look after him.
Rose was a reluctant piano teacher, and really needed to explore her talent.
Pam was the only one that had never married, (sensible).
I did a lot of scoffing and snorting at Tess and Jen’s inability to see what was actually going on.

A lot of fun

5 different women meet at aqua aerobics and become great friends. Then they go to Paris and that’s when they discover who they really are and what they want in life. This is an enjoyable book- light, ‘holiday’ reading that made me smile a lot. It’s not a comedy, but it’s warm-hearted and sweet.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It’s a very unique story, light and easy listening, but giving food for thought. Lovely.
