平安時代。
飢饉や辻風など天変地異が続き都が寂れてきた、そんなある時、一人の下人が羅生門の下で雨やみを待っていた。
仕えてきた主人に解雇され途方にくれていた下人は、「盗人」になる決意をしきれず、ぼんやり、雨を眺めていた。
