Publisher's Summary

This heart-pounding slasher by New York Times bestselling author and TikTok sensation Kalynn Bayron is perfect for fans of Tiffany D. Jackson's White Smoke, Friday the 13th, The Haunting of Bly Manor and Get Out.

Charity Curtis has the summer job of her dreams, playing the “final girl” at Camp Mirror Lake. Guests pay to be scared in this full-contact terror game, as Charity and her summer crew recreate scenes from a classic slasher film, Curse of Camp Mirror Lake. The more realistic the fear, the better for business.

But in the last weekend of the season, Charity’s co-workers begin disappearing. And when one ends up dead, Charity’s role as the final girl suddenly becomes all too real. If Charity and her girlfriend Bezi hope to survive the night, they’ll need to figure out what this killer is after. Is there more to the story of Mirror Lake and its dangerous past than Charity ever suspected?

Great spin on the slasher genre 🩸

This was a great take on the slasher genre. Really enjoyed the Easter eggs and premise. Could have spent more time at the top of the book but the focus was on the action which tbh made sense. Narration was great for a diverse cast. Check out story graph for content warnings.

Great Slasher Novel with a Twist

TW/CW: There is an animal cruelty scene but mostly all the usual slasher/horror stuff.

An unsettling journey to a camp where all you experience may not be as it appears. Be wary of cracking branches, always travel in groups but, most of all… if you feel a shiver run up your spine it’s probably a good reason to run.

It’s a fun but tough gig to run a horror themed, real life, role playing game based on a movie. Somehow, this group of teens manages but, sometimes the game doesn’t go to plan. It could be an employee being a no show, or… something else.

I love how this book drops you right into the action. Be aware, though, knowing the horror tropes is the only way you may just survive.

This book could easily become a cult classic.
