Story
The Carls disappeared the same way they appeared, in an instant. While they were on Earth, they caused confusion and destruction without ever lifting a finger. Well, that's not exactly true. Part of their maelstrom was the sudden viral fame and untimely death of April May. Months later, the world is as confused as ever. As each character gets further down their own path, a series of clues arrive - mysterious books that seem to predict the future and control the actions of their readers, unexplained internet outages and more - which seem to suggest April may be very much alive.

A good first audible book

Publisher's Summary
The Internet isn't all cat videos. There's also Felicia Day - violinist, filmmaker, Internet entrepreneur, compulsive gamer, and former lonely homeschooled girl who overcame her isolated childhood to become the ruler of a new world...or at least semi-influential in the world of Internet geeks and Goodreads book clubs.
After growing up in the South, where she was 'homeschooled for hippie reasons', Felicia moved to Hollywood to pursue her dream of becoming an actress and was immediately typecast as a crazy cat-lady secretary.
But Felicia's misadventures in Hollywood led her to produce her own web series, own her own production company, and become an Internet star.
Felicia's short-ish life and her rags-to-riches rise to Internet fame launched her career as one of the most influential creators in new media. Now Felicia's strange world is filled with thoughts on creativity, video games, and a dash of mild feminist activism - just like her memoir.
Hilarious and inspirational, You're Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) is proof that everyone should embrace what makes them different and be brave enough to share it with the world because anything is possible now - even for a digital misfit.

History of queen of the geeks
Where does You're Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is a very funny take on this lovely ladies life. She is very funny and engaging.
Who was your favorite character and why?
It is an autobiography so Felicia Day.
What does Felicia Day bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
She brought her inflections to her own words which leaves nothing to misinterpretation.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
yes I found it hard to stop listening
Any additional comments?
I love this girl and love her book. It does lose its way a little toward the end where she starts talking about the whole cyberbullying thing and stops talking about her very funny life.

Refreshing and Edutaining!
It's been 3 years using Audible now which I love and regularly promote to my personal and work contacts. First book to move me enough to write a review - thanks Felicia!
As indicated in the introduction, this book will either identify with people who are part of the gaming interest or help others who aren't to understand a well rounded perspective from an intelligent and extremely open personal perspective.
My first real exposure to the author and I found it inspiring, encouraging and very funny in many spots. The author is clearly very bright which is common for many great books but she is also very vulnerable and that's not a common combination in the filed in which I have spent my last 25 years being involved with (gaming).
As my son now prepares to enter this industry, my slice and I have decided this is a great reference and I would also recommend it to anyone looks form some witty and very personal sharing.
Thanks Felicia for the inspiration and I would count myself as a new fan. Keep up the great work.

Enjoyed it!
Was a great memoir speaking from my inner geek. I will admit though towards the end it was a bit depressing and a little pessimistic but it was all warranted. Only reason I'm mentioning it was because it was hard to listen to.

A weirdly human deja-vu
I've enjoyed Felicias work for a while now, though I'm definitely late to the party compared to fans of hers from back when the Guild started and such.
But despite what the haters say, she is both a genuine geek from what I can tell as well as a fantastic ambassador and voice for both geeks and in a way a generation heavy with geekdom.
I enjoyed her reading of this book which itself was a nice and at times harsh insight into the creative world - nothing that most of us have never heard but here it was real and oddly normal without the melodrama one often hears/sees with stories about the rise and fall of the famous and such.
As someone in India where this culture and mindset is definitely still nascent, much of her struggle and especially with regard to peoples's attitudes and the like hit home a lot. It was also a nice sober reminder and yet retained a sense of hope and patience and staying true to your vision/dreams even when they evolve that I appreciated.

We both enjoyed this FAR more than we anticipated.
I'm a female. I'm a gamer. Partner is a gamer (we met in WoW 10 yrs ago) and we're both fans of Felicia Day and her work - so we had a pretty good feeling that we would enjoy listening to her book. Truthfully though, we both really didn't expect to LOVE the book as much as we did.
This is one of those books where you'll either love it or hate it - and I'm personally so disappointed that the book came to an end.

Absolutely Outstanding
This book is like a peak into the amazing life of Felicia Day. You get to go along on this journey with her as she shows you all the highs and lows she has been through, and how she's been able to rise above any obstacle in her way. In this book she also tackles problems about the verbal bulling and abuse people receive online, taking a stand against the trolls. I found this book uplifting and it left a warm glow in my heart. Would definitely recommend to anyone of any a age or gender, as it is funny, emotional and an absolute delight to read :)

Funny and charming and nerdy :)
I was kind of tangentially aware of Felicia Day's work but plan to seek more of it out after listening to this. Her story is engaging and funny and she does a fantastic job reading it. If you are in anyway at all interested in nerd culture or just enjoy a laugh you will probably get something out of this book. I appreciate that she is not at all apologetic about being a high achiever but is also honest about her anxiety.
It's also quite touching in places - there's a bit with a fan that made me tear up a bit. The gamergate chapter is also really interesting and a thoughtful examination of that ridiculous phenomenon.
I was enjoying it so much, that I listened to it all in one day - so, yes, I recommend this book.
The pdf is available but not, apparently, on my phone.

But you don't need to be a gamer to appreciate what she has to say - it's a witty and brave account of how to CREATE and be true to who you are. Everyone should read / listen to this! You're awesome Felicia! Now I'm off to watch The Guild :D

loved every last word
I picked up the audiobook as my
travel companion for my daily commute. Having been a big fan of Felicia Day for years now I had been looking forward to the book for months. This book, read by Felicia herself, gives wonderful insights into the weird and creative mind of a situationally famous lady gamer/actress/writer/person that made me smile, nod, frequently chuckle and snort but also feel strongly connected during her accounts of her depressions, fears and worries. Hearing her relate her not infrequent struggles with people, the mad mad world and above all herself made me feel okay about my own quirks and struggles.
Great, inspiring and funny memoir.

But really eye opening reading her book! I suffer with severe aniexty myself and self esteem to hearing that the woman I look up to and is success, amazing and looks damn confident, started off simular to me.... It gives me hope I can one day... Just maybe.... Be as amazing as her 😊. Written really well and never wanted to put it down. This is one book I will be re reading again and again.
