Publisher's Summary

With each passing day, Kelsea Glynn is growing into her new responsibilities as Queen of the Tearling. By stopping the shipments of slaves to the neighbouring kingdom of Mortmesne, she crossed the Red Queen, a brutal ruler whose power derives from dark magic, who is sending her fearsome army into the Tearling to take what is hers. And nothing can stop the invasion.

But as the Mort army draws ever closer, Kelsea develops a mysterious connection to a time before the Crossing, and she finds herself relying on a strange and possibly dangerous ally: a woman named Lily, fighting for her life in a world where being female can feel like a crime. The fate of the Tearling - and that of Kelsea’s own soul - may rest with Lily and her story, but Kelsea may not have enough time to find out.

In this dazzling sequel to her best-selling debut The Queen of the Tearling, Erika Johansen brings back favourite characters, including the Mace and the Red Queen, and introduces unforgettable new players, adding exciting layers to her multidimensional tale of magic, mystery and a fierce young heroine.

Engaging, intriguing, unexpected.

Where does The Invasion of the Tearling rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

A brilliant series, among my collection of favourites that will be revisited.

What other book might you compare The Invasion of the Tearling to, and why?

The Servant of the Empire series.

Any additional comments?

LOVED the first two books (not yet listened to the third). The second book contains a number of scenes containing instances of self harm that I personally found difficult and feel that potential readers should be made aware of.

Excellent in every way.

This intriguing story continues with the same exciting and skillfull story telling as book one.

Erika is a clever and original author and the narration is excellent. Frankly, if you enjoy fantasy novels and are looking for an interesting, engaging and very well written story this series is a must. Truly everything I want from fantasy novels is to be found here.

New, wonderfully detailed characters are introduced and old characters continue to develop with deft writing.

The world that has been created is fascinating and unique peopled with characters we come to really care about.

Davina is the perfect narrator for this world. I will search out other books she has narrated.
