Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Wasn't as good as the first
Entertaining and good narration, but not as good as the first. The first book was hunger game esque but it's officially lost that vibe.
I also hate the relationship between the two main characters. He's controlling, unreasonable, and so easily willing to think the worst, and she's pathetically forgiving and focused on how much she likes him, and unnecessarily secretive about understandable and forgivable things. It's not cute.
Most of the issues between any of the characters could have been resolved with basic communication and it's frustrating to listen and think "just say this!" but they dont
Also spoilers ahead but it's SO annoying that no one's asking important questions like "so Tobias's mum why were you exiled?" And "Caleb what's this super convincing reason you had that made you agree to kill your sister?" Like really no one wanted to know these things? The didn't seem relevant? So stupid.
I'll read the third but it's grudging at this point.

Ok, but Parts 1 and 3 are better.
Enjoyable story, but there are a few plot points in the proceedings that I think the film actually improved on, particularly the ending. The narrator does such a good job of Tris with her intensity, seriousness and strong sense of justice. The corresponding film also falls a little flat, but it is only matching the book. It's very hard for a part 2 in a trilogy not to be mostly a build-up to the third part. The story on its own would not stand so well, but it's not really meant to. It's worth listening to if you're enjoying this trilogy.
