Editorial reviews

Clovermead is a fantastical adventure story with a chatty and astute 12-year-old girl as the protagonist, hero, and brave warrior.

Clovermead Wickward has an overactive imagination, as she daydreams such grandiose things as leading armies of allegiant followers on swashbuckling quests and other perilous and mythical journeys. To her great surprise, Clovermead discovers that she comes from a royal family whose real life closely resembles Clovermead’s fantasies.

Narrated with bright and childlike curiosity by Kim McKean, Clovermead should appeal to sharp young explorers like Clovermead herself.

Publisher's Summary

Twelve-year-old Clovermead Wickward's head is filled with stories of adventure. She dreams about the thrill of a sword fight, the excitement of heroic quests, and the clash of mighty armies. The last thing she expects is for those dreams to come true. It seems that her beloved father, Waxmelt, is not who she has believed him to be - but is harboring secrets that threaten to tear their family apart.
