I enjoyed this so much more than book 3! Book 1 and 4 are defintiely my favourites. Such a lovely ending to the series.

Best book yet

By far his best book of the series and a simply perfect ending. First two books a little slow at first but this 4th book made the whole series worth it. Gripping action for most the book and so much character development, twists I didn’t see coming

A great ending

While the lack of character voices is a bit annoying, this has been a wonderful series.

Good yarn

Great ending, enjoyed reading it. Narration was good except when voicing characters, which were badly overdone.

Pristine!

Fantastic! This is all I could have asked for the ending of a brilliant series all I wished for was just a little more.

What an adventure!

I’ve just finished this, the 4th and final book in Mortal Engines Quartet...and what a series!

The writing always kept me interested and never laboured too much despite the plots get more complex and intertwined as the books progressed. I really started to get to know and enjoy the characters, in particular the unusual dynamics of the main characters of Tom and Hester as well as my personal favourite, Professor Nimrod Pennyroyal, the likeable rogue and conman.

The narration by Barnaby Edwards is superb. His range of accents and voices really had me mentally picturing the characters who were very believable.

All in all, a fantastic read and I’m sad to have finished the series. I’ve still got the film to look forward to...let’s hope they stuck to the books and don’t ‘Hollywoodize’ it too much!

Childhood read rediscovered

Just finished trought the whole series, I remember reading the first book as a kid. I loved the setting and the characters. Now I got to appreciate the interactions among them with a different prospective. And i really loved the ending, which was perfect in the way the narrator portraits it!
