A Wonderful, Scripturally Founded, Encouragement!

I have thoroughly enjoyed You Can Trust God to Write Your Story – this has been a book that with every "turn of the page" I have felt a resounding “Amen” from my spirit. I am so thankful to see material like this being published. Addressing the hard and puzzling things in life and showing scripturally and through testimonies that yes, we can trust God to write our stories and that in the end it will be the best possible outcome. I love how the authors take a look at what makes a good story – conflict. And how while for entertainment that is what we want to see in a storyline but in our own stories we want boring conflict-free lives. And it is just not so, if that were the case we would NEVER grow in Christ! Probably my favorite chapters are “You Can Trust God When You Lose a Loved One” and “You Can Trust God When You’re Facing Death”. In my own story, I have lost my first son J.R. to congenital heart disease when he was 11 months old. No chapter in my life has been more painful or filled with God’s glory and I would also say that it was a pivotal moment in my life too because it drove my relationship with the Lord so much deeper and really was a huge course correction to me and my family. Not that I was on a “bad” trajectory, but it was like a meteor knocking us into a completely different orbit. And I am so very grateful! Our lives are so very different than they would have been without J.R. and God has blessed us through it and made us a blessing as only He can do! Understanding God’s providence in our lives will help bring you peace as you trust God walking through the dark valleys. This is a book I will give to friends to encourage them and that I will revisit again and again. Well done Nancy Leigh and Robert, well done! Side note – I thoroughly enjoy it when the authors themselves narrate the book, so bonus on that!

Needed this book

This book was released at the perfect time. God used this book to bring me so much hope, joy and knowledge of the character of God. I love how Nancy and Robert used biblical stories and illustrated the narrative in an ‘easy to grasp’ way. I’m astonished by the story of Nancy, Bobbi and Robert. God wrote a beautiful story and still continues to today! I would 100% recommend and will buy this book to gift to friends and family!

I cannot agree with some of the author's premises

I returned this book after about 45 minutes. I am an avid Audible listener over the last 10 years, with most of those books being in theology, prayer and Christian living. Among their "choices" at the start of the book was that either 1- God was omnipotent and in control or 2- God was completely hands off. Later, one of their foundational principles was that there were no accidents or happenstances. If you're a Calvinist who believes in meticulous providence, maybe that works for you. But being in prayer ministry for over 20 years, and I've seen a whole lot of ugly. The authors' mindset makes God out to be an "unindicted co-conspirator" to evil (which he is not). Nowhere does their theology allow free choice and evil, so that whatever happens in life, God can make something good come from it.

Brings Heavenly perspective to life's many sorrows

This book is beautiful. It is packed with stories of men and women throughout the ages who have faced tremendous adversity and sorrows and in them found God to be trustworthy. A really wonderful book that re-centers and re-focuses our hearts and minds on the eternal in spite of our circumstances.
