I am very glad I got this book.

I have suffered from abdominal pain for several years (from endometriosis) so I looked for resources to help me tone up my core and help with the pain. While this book does not target that particular pain, I have found the exercises helpful for improving my posture, meditating, and strengthening my body in such a way that it does help my abdominal pain. I am very glad I got this book.

The author does an excellent job

The author does an excellent job of explaining the pain in your body and how yoga helps. As I've been following her guidance, I expect more improvement in the pain level... at least I'm hopeful.

The author gives a total program

The author gives a total program that can be customized to fit anyone's particular circumstances. I was very interested in William M. Wittman's discussion of how the mind treats chronic pain and how changing one's thinking and approach can make the pain easier to bear - and also happy to see that there were practical ways to go about it.

This book is calming and soothing in tone

This book is calming and soothing in tone and content. It gives a clear path to follow in handling chronic pain and by extension, a lot of life's other challenges. The yoga exercises are not difficult and should be possible for a lot of people to do, depending on their situations.

Throw down your pills

This book has a totally different approach to yoga than what you will find in most classes, and it works. I'm a yoga teacher and yoga therapist, and I happen to be recovering from a car accident and trying to get back to my practice. I followed the advice in this book and started noticing positive results very quickly.

The more I practice, the more I value this book

I find this yoga book different than any I have read previously. very tuned into the chronic pain condition, which makes a big difference. I have bought DVDs and books about yoga but they have all proven to difficult to do without actually increasing my pain. I would highly recommend anyone with physical disabilities and/or chronic pain to get this book.

A book is a useful tool and a basic introduction

A book is a useful tool and a basic introduction to how yoga can help relieve pain. I become aware of the origins of yoga and its present-day developments. I bought the book because my yoga teacher told me to do so. I do need my teacher to show me in person how to work certain poses described in the book.

Very Clear, Accessible, Effective

This is a wonderful book that is accessible to anyone, very easy to use and very clear. I'm struck by the author's skill in communicating complex philosophical and scientific information and translating it into simple practices that are as useful to the serious yogi as they are to someone completely unfamiliar with yoga.

A powerful tool for helping my Pain Relief

A powerful tool for helping my wife deal with her chronic pain. This book was very helpful for reducing or eliminating many painful conditions. As someone who has practiced yoga for years, it was very beneficial to learn the poses that would aggravate different conditions.

This book was very helpful for reducing

This is a book that I would recommend to anyone who wants the bottom line on what you can get from yoga/meditation. The book hits a kind of "sweet spot:" This is yoga's entry point with minimal initial physical investment, the lowest opportunity cost, and the biggest pay-off. You don't have to get in shape, build up your aerobic capacity, muscular strength and flexibility before seeing results.

The instructions are simple and easy to follow

The instructions are simple and easy to follow, including powerful breathing, body awareness, relaxation and meditation techniques. The guidance includes many aspects of Yoga, rather than a biomechanical focus on Yoga postures as physical therapy.
