Love me an unlikable character…
An amazing piece of work, truly. June is the epitome of an unlikable main character and it was really embarrassing to read some of her internal musings but the premise of the book is what had me hooked. I just wanted to know her next move. At times, if felt a little too fast or too slow but considering the book, it didn’t take away from my enjoyment.

Bold and Brave Satire
It’s cringy since the protagonist is so awful, but so well done! Takes guts to call out the publishing industry like this.

Loved it. Highly recommend
Juniper is awful and learns nothing from anything and that’s such a refreshing change from the usual redemption nonsense.
There’s nothing feel good or wholesome but it’s not dark either. I laughed out loud at some of Juniper’s reflections - the complete lack of insight and how she misses the irony of her point of view. So clever.
The narration was outstanding. It can’t be easy to narrate a dislikable character.
Loved it. Highly recommend.

Don’t get the hype
Juniper is really unlikeable and it’s hard to feel any emotion towards her. I also found it confusing how she’s not meant to be close friends with Athena, yet has so much history with her. If I had my time again, I wouldn’t have chose to listen to this book.

Good performance, horrible main character
I keep listening as it was engaging story telling performance and the fact I had to pay full price for it but the actual story line was irritating and self indulgent. the main protagonist was so unlikeable. Not in cool ‘love to hate’ villain way but was one dimensional self obsessed and a narcissistic bore.
I listened i I’ve a weekend while I ripped out weeds and cleaned the house so it was passable but I’d be annoyed if I’d brought it for a holiday beach read.
