Publisher's Summary

The sequel to the number one best seller, Jimmy Barnes' unforgettable childhood memoir, Working Class Boy.

It’s a life too big and a story too extraordinary for just one book. Jimmy Barnes has lived many lives - from Glaswegian migrant kid to iconic front man, from solo superstar to proud father of his own musical clan. In this hugely anticipated sequel to his critically acclaimed best seller, Working Class Boy, Jimmy picks up the story of his life as he leaves Adelaide in the back of an old truck with a then unknown band called Cold Chisel.

A spellbinding and searingly honest reflection on success, fame and addiction, this self-penned memoir reveals how Jimmy Barnes used the fuel of childhood trauma to ignite and propel Australia’s greatest rock ’n’ roll story. But beyond the combustible merry-go-round of fame, drugs and rehab and across the Cold Chisel, solo and soul years, this is a story about how it’s never too late to try to put things right.

Inspirational!

Great listen, you actually feel like you are getting to know Jimmy and the world he rolls in.
If you have ever wondered why addicts and alcoholics do what they do or how some people can be spiritually bereft dispite being outwardly successful t hgen this is the book for you.
do not be put oiff be Jimmy filling the narrators spot at it lends the book authenticity and rest assured that Jimmy attacks the job with gusto.
He isn't as smooth as a professional actor but he was better than solid and really sounded good.

a superb listen. Couldn't put these books down.

I thoroughly enjoyed these two books. There is so much more to his life than I was previously aware. I especially appreciated the raw honesty - it feels like Jimmy has laid it all bare.

Big Fan

Loved this book. I’ve seen Jimmy Barnes many times and bought his and Cold Chisels records. I knew he had his challenges but never as bad as they were. This book is an inspiration to all who have dark secrets. Thank you Jimmy for sharing you’ve given me a new perspective and respect for you and your music and I feel is as if I truely know you.

Truly inspiring

What an incredible couple of books. Plenty of tears and laughs throughout this story. Jimmy and Chisel’s music set the soundtrack to my childhood and so happy he’s still making music. So glad the man himself narrated this book, brought a whole new dimension to the story.

Tragedy

Oh sorry, that’s the Bee Gees. In all a good narrative that is reflective of an emotional mind that remains in turmoil whilst also recovering. No one gets away scot free in life and this is a prime example. In truth, I feel sorry for the bloke - there is a lot of negatives floating in his wake. Lucky he has a few positives that are solid as bedrock.
