Publisher's Summary

Have you ever wanted to get into woodworking but didn't know where to start or know what size shop you will need? Maybe you like the idea of woodworking as a way to turn a profit, occupy down time, or just to learn a new skill. Or perhaps you found a field that you are interested but you don't know what tools you need to buy?

Well, you've come to the right place! There are a lot of websites, DIY instructions, and blogs out there that will show you the easy way or 'hack' of how to build furniture, but a true woodworker takes skill, knowledge, and practice to create works of art that will last generations.

very handy

This has to be one of the most comprehensive books on wood joinery. As a novice woodworker, the information found in this audio-book is invaluable. Even for the more experienced, I feel that there's plenty to learn here as well. As much info as you can find online about joinery, it's really nice to have a book that covers it all

simple guide

A great audio-book for new and old woodworkers. Very good , explaination of each joint, and the proper name for each joint.. I keep it in the shop bookcase, and refer to it frequently when the need to do a joint that is not commonly used, although the audio-book covers just about every joint very well.

great book for beginners

It is beautifully done. The pictures are beautiful, covers a lot of topics. I think there is enough for everyone but it is pretty basics, it is not a project book. For a beginner this would be marvelous; for an experience woodworker this is very nice to look at but you might not gain a bit of knowledge. It will take a while to take a closer look. But I do enjoy looking at all the illustrations and pictures.

interesting book

All you'll ever need to know about the art and the science of wood joinery thoroughly detailing purposes and applications, strengths and weaknesses, with great illustrations. Includes brief yet concise descriptions, citing both power and hand tool techniques, and leaves the choices to the woodworker.

A good reference.

This is a very good reference to have in the shop. It starts with the whole tree and the methods of breaking trees into usuable materials. There are discussions of the different methods of sawing timber to how veneer is sliced. There is a section on man made lumber plywood, particle board, paneling etc. Most of the tools used to create finished wood products are discussed in detail and finally a nice section on carving.

Cant recommend this enough.

This set of audio Book covers the basics of most every aspect of woodworking. Its not a manual for the advanced woodworker, but a great reference for the DIYr/novice. Never used a particular tool before? This book gives you enough information to use said tool with some confidence.
