Story
Have you heard that language is violence and that science is sexist? Have you read that certain people shouldn't practice yoga? Or been told that being obese is healthy, that there is no such thing as biological sex, or that only White people can be racist? Are you confused by these ideas, and do you wonder how they have managed to challenge the logic of Western society? In this probing volume, Helen Pluckrose and James Lindsay document the evolution of the dogma that informs these ideas, from its coarse origins in French postmodernism to its refinement within activist academic fields.

Story
The thesis of Human Diversity is that advances in genetics and neuroscience are overthrowing an intellectual orthodoxy that has ruled the social sciences for decades. The core of the orthodoxy consists of three dogmas: Gender is a social construct. Race is a social construct. Class is a function of privilege. The problem is that all three dogmas are half-truths. They have stifled progress in understanding the rich texture that biology adds to our understanding of the social, political, and economic worlds we live in. It is not a story to be feared. But it is a story that needs telling.

Story
Recently many people have assumed that we are blank slates shaped by our environment. But this denies the heart of our being: human nature. Violence is not just a product of society; male and female minds are different; the genes we give our children shape them more than our parenting practices. To acknowledge our innate abilities, Pinker shows, is not to condone inequality but to understand the very foundations of humanity.

Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.

Progressives love to attack conservatives as anti-science, wallowing in fake news, and culturally backwards. But who are the real denialists here? There are three institutions in American life run by gatekeepers that have stopped letting in anyone who questions their liberal script: academia, journalism, and pop culture.

The madness claiming young woman finally laid bare
- By JW Armstrong on 01-08-2020
Publisher's Summary
In Woke, Titania McGrath demonstrates how everybody can play their part in the pursuit of social justice. As a millennial icon on the forefront of online activism, Titania is uniquely placed to guide her listeners through the often bewildering array of terminology and concepts that constitute 21st-century 'wokeness'. These new ideas often leave the general public bemused, particularly if they don't read the Guardian.
Being woke is actually much easier than people think. As Titania demonstrates, anyone can be an activist. By simply adding a rainbow flag to your Facebook profile, or calling out an elderly person who doesn't understand what 'nonbinary' means, you can change the world for the better. Indeed, social media has now made it possible to show how virtuous you are without having to do anything at all.
Timely and indispensable, Titania's step-by-step guide will help you to become the woke person you need to be in an increasingly progressive world. In a non-patronising manner, Titania will explain why you are wrong about everything and how to become more like her.

Incredible satire, indistiguisbale from real SJWs
Poe's Law is in full effect here. Titania McGrath interweaves real quotes from real social justice sympathetic journalists, activists and celebrities into her prose. The insanity of the media establishment is so profound that often one cannot tell the difference between an intentionally over-the-top satirical take on the Left's agenda written by McGrath, and some insane drivel plopped out by your garden variety Intersectional Basket-Weaving Anarcho-Communist journo.

An Absolute Masterpiece of Wokeness
Whatever Alice Marshall was paid for reading this masterpiece will never be enough. “Titania” (Doyle) is a true genius and just about every line in this book is shockingly hilarious, but Marshall’s reading transformed it into something ... otherworldly. Titania’s slam poetry is beyond hilarious in print ... but tumbling off Marshall’s tongue it is ... well ... there are no words to express it. You just have to listen, then once you do you will instantly understand why I came up short of enough appropriate adjectives to actually do Alice’s work justice. I normally listen to audiobooks while out walking. As I was loathe to turn this particular audiobook off I arrived home exhausted and with sore feet after extending my walks well beyond my usual. And — in case you’re wondering — even here in Japan Titania McGrath is f*cking hilarious.

Platinum Grade Satire
Indistinguishable from the psychotic preaching of actual SJWs. Every 3 minutes I listened to contained at least one glaringly hypocritical but nonetheless completely accurate pronouncement of what it means to be progressive according to the Left. Only thru this kind of satire did I get a solid grasp of how toxic this concept of woke really is. Just fucking read/listen to it. And no matter which side you're on, if you're offended, remind yourself it is satire.

Newly awoken
If you struggle with self acceptance, this book is for you. Through the very worthy veil of intersectionality you will learn whether you're even worth accepting. Titania has a mastery to help shed light on your inherent flaws. I wasted years trying to accept myself for who I was. Now, as a fluid ecosexual, I can finally accept myself for who I should be, not who I am. Thank you Titania for 'waking me' from my micro-aggressive self-serving slumber. May the Jack Boot of your wokeness finally wipe out the tyranny of cis-gendered hetero-normativity and anyone with the Audacity to be simply 'white'.

Both funny and scary
It's a strange experience reading "Woke". On the one hand I was laughing like a hyena at the perfectly on-point rantings of this brilliant comic creation. At the same time, the real-life quotes from real-life leftwing activists liberally sprinkled through the text: serve as a rather chilling reminder that there are large numbers of powerful, wealthy, well-connected people, who really do share every single piece of Titania's hateful, narcissistic personality disorder. Realizing that Alexandria Occasio-Cortez, really did say that being factually correct, wasn't as important as being "morally correct", makes you wonder if you *should* be laughing at this book, even as you find yourself unable to stop laughing. You could re-print whole chapters from "Woke" word for word in the Guardian under the byline of any of their regular contributors, and no one would notice. The narrator is particularly well chosen, and really brings Titania to life in all her vile glory.

I’ve heard about TM although I don’t waste my time with twitter. Thought I would check out this book and it didn’t disappoint. TM puts forward some very convincing arguments, so much so, that I am now considering coming out as non-binary. I also realised that even though I don’t say or think racist things, as a hetro, White male - I probably AM still racist, and it’s something I need to deal with. Thanks for ‘outing’ me!

An Orgy of Satire
Rarely do I listen to a book, squirming with discomfort, raging at the honesty, nodding with recognition and laughing my head off all in the same vein. Whilst this is masterclass of satire, it lifts the mirror to the face of complete lunacy perpetuated by the hysteria of leftwing dominated dogma. They can't beat your argument, so instead they seek to divide with identity politics, change the rules / meaning of the English language, make new words up or delete words altogether. If you don't listen to this and fear the future, then you're culturally lost and it may be too late to save you. Sooth your soul afterwards with a little bit of common sense and little bit of Dr Jordan Peterson.

Worryingly true
Perfectly encapsulates those Woke views which are on the ascendancy and gaining dominance in so many areas of modern society. Extremely funny but worryingly true. The slam poetry is spot on and reminds me of those awful verses of Kate Tempest.

Hilarious
This book is so well written, and you can see why so many po-faced liberals AND proper conservatives got sucked in by it. I especially love the mocking of slam-poetry and the actress reading it NAILS the part.

Needs a tv series
Passed the six-laugh test for me during the five minute preview, and is just full of brilliant, pseudo-progressive lines like "He-Man was at least progressive enough to announce his pronouns." She's a modern-day Nathan Barley. It's made me want to be less judgemental, and ironically, since it takes the mickey out of her mercilessly, it got me thinking about my review of a Laurie Penny novella, which I dismissed entirely because of its ageism and other problematic elements. Much as I enjoyed this book, though, half of the joke is missing, and that's the maniacal right-wingers on Twitter who take the bait and start ranting and raving at Titania. She cuts both ways but we only see one side of it here.
