Story
With a name like Quinn Calahan, I sounded as Irish as a leprechaun dancing a jig on a four leafed clover, but the truth was, I’d never been closer to the emerald isle than drinking green beer at the St Patrick’s day street party in Boston until I messed up so badly I had to leave the US. I was offered a job in a tiny village in Ireland that no one’s ever heard of. And I think that was the point in sending me there.

Publisher's Summary
Romantic cozy mystery - with witches, vampires, and shifters!
Pepper Jasper, an Australian witch who has long practiced traditional witchcraft, does not believe in the supernatural - such as Werewolves and Shifters, or Vampires.
Pepper moves from Sydney to the cozy town of Lighthouse Bay, answering a desperate plea from her aunts to help with their failing Bed and Breakfast business.
She discovers her aunts are more eccentric than she remembered, the Bed and Breakfast does not serve breakfast, and the cottages for lease have strange themes. And what's more, within minutes of her arrival, she stumbles across a dead body. Pepper soon has her hands full, contending with a murder mystery, irritating guests including the enigmatic Lucas O'Callaghan, who is convinced every woman wants to fall into his arms; and her aunts, who are hiding more than one dark secret.
Who or what lurks in the forbidden room at the end of the dark corridor?
Why do the aunts insist she drink copious quantities of special label wine?
Find out what awaits Pepper Jasper at Mugwort Manor.
This is a romantic cozy mystery. There is no bad language and the romance is clean and wholesome.

Lots of laughs!
witches, vampires, murder, amateur sleuth, law enforcement, humor, bed & breakfast, Australia
Welcome to another view of reality in Australia. Ms Best has a fun new series involving witches, vampires, a rather odd bed and breakfast, a winery, and some really interesting magic. The characters are always interesting, and the tidbits of local lore and flora/fauna really add to the story! The publisher's blurb gives hints and there is no need for spoilers. There is also no erotica. Once again, the setting is not urban, and I think that's a good thing. I have enjoyed her other series, and this one looks to be just as much fun!
Tiffany Doughertyworks very well as narrator for this one, too!

cozy, who done it....
This story takes place in Australia - Pepper Jasper moves to a small town under the guise of helping her aunts with their B&B, only to learn there are more types of beings than just humans....in one week.
Arrogant Lucas O'Callaghan, is hiding a secret and in spite of the dead body that falls through her aunts skylight, she gets more and more suspicious.
This cozy mystery IMO is charming but not enticing. I was looking for a little more....feeling of suspense.

The worst narration!
This is only based upon the beginning of the book since I couldn't get past it. The narrator sounds incredibly amateurish. She misses nuance and inflection. It's like a random parent at the kindergarten narrating a book. I keep trying to "hear" the book through the bad narration. But, it got too annoying.

Good first in series cozy
First I will say that the book takes place in Australia but the narrator uses a midwestern American accent. Once past that, this is an enjoyable cozy where the world building unfolds as the main character learns about her new home and the supernatural. I thought the mystery was good. The characters are likeable. There is still much room for additional development in both world and characters. Clean read with a hint of romance. I will continue in the series but not sure if I will add audio again. The narrator did fine, but the accent threw me off. Also, there were some snarky, dry lines which were funnier to me when I read them vs listened. Overall, I enjoyed this book.
