Auf einer sogenannten Crowdsolving-Plattform beteiligen sich Hobby-Ermittler an der Suche nach dem Mörder und liefern zahlreiche – mal mehr, mal weniger hilfreiche – Hinweise. Eine Userin, "Astria", behauptet sogar, sie stünde kurz vor der Lösung des Falls, doch dann verschwindet auch sie. Widerwillig lässt sich Wisting auf diese unkonventionelle Art der Ermittlung ein, löst den Fall aber letztendlich mit seiner bewährt professionellen und akribischen Art.
