Publisher's Summary

Thrilling World War II adventures like you’ve never seen them before.

As the Nazis invade Europe on a campaign for total domination, a brutal war begins to unfold which will change the course of the world forever - and John Archer finds himself caught in the middle of it. When this amateur pilot joins the Allied war effort and is tasked with a series of death-defying missions which place him deep into German-occupied territory, his hair-raising adventures will help decide the fate of Europe.

In War Heroes, John is caught up in the devastating Nazi invasion of France while on vacation. Teaming up with ambulance driver Barney, John will need his amateur pilot skills and more than a stroke of luck to pull off the escape of the century.

In Bombs Over Britain, the Nazis have a plan which could change the course of the entire war...unless Archer can stop them. Air-dropped into Belgium on a top-secret mission, Archer must retrieve vital intelligence and make it out alive. But that’s easier said than done when the Gestapo are closing in.

And in Desert Scout, Archer finds himself stranded beneath the scorching Libyan sun and in a race against time to turn the tide of the war in North Africa. But with the Luftwaffe and the desert vying to finish him off, can he make it out alive?

Packed with action and filled to the brim with suspense, these thrilling stories combine classic adventures with a riveting and historical World War II setting, making it ideal for history buffs and casual listeners. If you’re a fan of riveting war fiction novels, WW2 aircraft, and the war for the skies, Archer’s next adventure will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Mixed feelings.

I received a free copy of this audio book in exchange for an honest review.

I am a lover of all thing military history, but this series grew tiresome. First the setting and premise of the story was promising, then it just kind of wore me down and became work.

First off the main character and his best friend partake in ENDLESS bantering and rough housing. Seriously, they do not speak to eachother without it ending in smack talk or ribbing. Some of this would have been character building showing their personalities but after a while it's just ridiculous. I'm not exaggerating, it is virtually continuous. Real people don't speak like this.

Second, the plots, engaging and interesting plots are ruined by predictability and by the characters never having anything go wrong. Nothing ever goes the wrong way. Everything works out perfect and they are hero's. They are always in the right place at the right time with just the person watching, ECT, ECT.

The action are set up to be good but then fall flat with everything working out hunky dory.

I have reviewed several works by this author and they have always been good and it pains me to leave such a bad review. I have been putting it off, but I can't lie, this series was childish and boring.

I could see a kid enjoying these stories. I know I would have enjoyed the flying of Spitfires and spying when I was younger, but as an adult it was just too contrived and the main character a bit Mary Sue-ish. I didn't like it.

If you are looking for a series with a predictable plot and knowing the hero wins in the end, you will probably like it. But be prepared for the tooth grinding, eyerolling dialog. That was the worst part. Honestly if the stupid banter would have been limited and cleaned up a bit, the story would probably get 4 stars. But I grew to hate when they two main character would talk to each other.

Well done!

ya-only-means-no-gratuitous-erotica, historical-novel, historical-figures, historical-places-events, historical-research, history-and-culture, ww2, action-adventure, RAF, pilots*****

Tales of derring-do following and American and a Brit, both only 17 and both almost-pilots, from shortly before Dunkirk to North Africa and the Italian campaign. First they are civilians, then trained for RAF. When their plane is downed they are nearly done in as spies by the Germans. Then it's off to an aircraft carried and more adventures. The tale is well done and not the horror stories of nonfiction, but just exactly how young men of that age would view their place in war.
Voice actor Doug Greene does a fantastic job of bringing it all to life!
I won this audiobook in a giveaway and the opinions are my own.

Harrowing WWII Adventures Told With a Smile

I have rarely experienced a story that played on such diverse emotions as this one. Archer and Barney's adventures on three fronts during the second World War had me laughing out loud one moment and holding my breath with the suspense of the pair's hair's breadth escapes the next.
From the German invasion of Belgium to the evacuation at Dunkirk and on to the North African front, our two young heroes fight, spy and argue their way through the war, stumbling from one adventure to another with a combination of good luck, quick wits and unflappable good humor.
This story brings the war to life in a way you've never experienced it before.
A real pleasure.

A boys own style adventure

I would describe this volume as a simplistic boys own adventure story.
Think Biggles in ww2.
If you can remember that style or enjoy them. Then you'll enjoy it immensely.
I received a free copy of this audiobook at my own request and voluntarily left this honest review.
