Publisher's Summary

Wildflower is a portrait of Drew's life in stories as she looks back on the adventures, challenges and incredible experiences of her earlier years.

It includes tales of living on her own at 14 (and how laundry may have saved her life), getting stuck in a gas station overhang on a cross country road trip, saying good-bye to her father in a way only he could have understood and many more adventures and lessons that have led her to the successful, happy and healthy place she is today.

It is the first book Drew has written about her life since the age of 14.

Charming and honest

Where does Wildflower rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Wildflower fits in the top three autobiographical audiobooks I've listened to, and Drew's reading of it was probably #2 of those.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Wildflower?

When Drew speaks about her father -- she is purely emotional about the complicated and difficult relationship she had, and I couldn't help but be moved by the honesty of her feelings.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Drew's speaking about her father made me emotional for the first time since I started listening to audiobooks. On the other hand, her narration of different stories -- in which she yelled, shouted, and made drawn-out unattractive sounds -- caused me to laugh with delight. She is guileless and charming, and Wildflower was a pleasure to listen to because of Drew's heartfelt and amusing narration.

drew is drew and that is wonderful

I LOVED this audio book. Because it was Drew Barrymore the actress? Maybe. Because she is fascinating and generous and kind and interesting? No not really. But it was the kind of dreamy book I looked forward to just escaping into, a true delight to read. And boy did I cry in the Chapter, "Flossy" :(

Drew Barrymore is a Goddess

I have been trying to review this book for such a long time but the words that would descibe it best have failed me. Drew the way you narated these story's of your life made me feel like I was there with you. Such beautiful segments of what can only be descibed as a magical life. Everytime I walk past a bird of paradise I will forever think of you. You are ever on the other side of the world pop by for a Rośe.

Sweet without substance

A sweet collection of stories from Drew's life. But there is no real through line and at times the narration is a bit over the top!

Comforting Read

I really enjoyed Drew's book and even more so because she narrated the audio version. I shed tears in the chapter about her beloved dogs and laughed out loud during the trekking experience. What I learnt was that Drew is a humble, hardworking, loving human and I could relate to many of her thoughts and feelings. Well written and easy to listen to. Have a go!

Who Knew

This story of Drew Barrymore's early life as a child actor is really interesting and perplexing. Clearly she was not looked after well by her mother and was put into some situations that a kid shouldn't have to deal with. It gives me more admiration for the actor and business person she has become. Definitely not a child that had privilege.
