Ehh

I’m not sure how to feel about this one. Bo and Ryker are an interesting couple but I had issues with the world building. Somehow the shifters clothes disappear and reappear upon shifting with no explanation. The narrator voice worked well for Ryker but not as much for Bo.

don't waste a free download!

I listened to the first chapter and that was all. it was filled with bad dialogue. The narration was aweful.
I got interested in the authors work after reading some other reviews but it was not my cup of tea.

Hard to finish

I liked the story but it was hard to enjoy. The narration was difficult to enjoy the story entirely. I think it needed a different narrator for me to enjoy it more.

Bo is a delightful character

Bo is an omega wolf, a EMT. Ryker is an alpha biker without a pack. All they have in common is that they are mates. When Ryker crashes his bike Bo comes to the scene to take of him. Ryker is an extremely dominating alpha. Taken aback at the omega that stands up to him, never having met a such strong omega. Ryker’s secrets don’t bode well for their relationship. When the truth surfaces something has to give and it certainly won’t be the omega.

The story was ok, it just didn’t flow well for me. I can’t tell if that was writing or from the narration. I’ve never listened to Barney Parkwynne before. While his gruff voice fit the alpha okay, his inflections carried the gruffness over to other characters. I really liked Bo’s feisty nature. He really carried the story.

Wild Ride

Wild Ride is an interesting story about Bo, an omega paramedic and Ryker, an alpha. Ryker's in an motorcycle accident and Bo is one that is called to the scene. Honestly I don't like alpha's who take whatever they want from an omega, mate or not. And Bo seemed surprised when he ended up pregnant like he didn't know that could happen to him. I do think Bo was good for Ryker in showing him how a pack could be with Ryker being lead alpha for his pack, he had a lot to learn. Not a favorite. I do enjoy this author's writing but this one not so much.
Narrator Barney Parkwynne does a wonderful job with what he was given.

New to me author, good story

this was a new to me author. The story was good, could have been a little longer. Beau is an Omega from a progressive pack. He's working one night when the ambulance he's working on comes to the scene of an accident, Ryker, an Alpha has wrecked his motorcycle. He's also Beau's mate. Ryker's pack is a bunch of "misfits" that no one else really wants. It had lots of steam, action and redemption. I had a little trouble with the narration personally. I didn't really feel the narrator fit the story. I've listened to to other stories by Barney Parkwyne and usually love them.

Puppy love

New to me author and narrator. I really enjoyed Beau, one of the MC's in this story. I liked how this omega was following his job interest and due to his progressive pack was not your "typical" omega. He understood some things alphas were better at and some things omegas were better at but pulling together they could be equals. I tried hard to like Ryker but in the end I was left wanting better for both Beau and the story. I am not sure if it was the cadence or why the narration just seemed off but ithad me coming out of the story a few times.

What makes strength

There were aspects to this story I liked and others I didn’t. I really liked the character of Bo and that he wasn’t a “typical” omega. Ryker got on my nerves for most of the story and wasn’t very likable. I did like that Ryker finally understood what made true strength by the end. The narrator was hard to listen to at times and may not have been the best choice here.

Wild Ride Review

The beginning of the story really grabbed me and I was very interested as to where this story was going. It seemed to slow a little bit for me and some things came really quickly that it was such a sudden switch. I couldn't really get into the characters, they seemed great but I wasn't really feeling Ryker, big bad alpha. The narrator did a good job but over time it just seemed like too much.

I liked the story

Bo and Ryker were great together. I loved how they had so much to teach each other. It really made for a great book. The storyline kept me engaged and very excited to see what was next. I did however have a hard time with the narrator. I could not get a connection with the story the way he was reading it. It fell flat for me as far as that was concerened.

An overthrown Alpha... finds his way...

Ryker almost died, and the paramedic who rescues him sees a connection. Bo is a very modern omega. He doesn’t take bull from anyone and lives on his own. He doesn’t need an Alpa to take care of him, but he finds one who is fated ro be with him. First they need to slay Ryker’s demons to truly be happy. Very interesting story, lots of heartache, a feisty omega and a true family. Loved the narration too.

as good as the ebook

The story is always 4-5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Good

Preston Walker did a great job in combining shifter and MC. Enjoyed the characters and their journey. It felt like Barney Parkwynn was overacting, but got used to it quickly. Narration was good though, each character had their own unique voice, enc.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Great mix of MC and shifters

I loved this mix of the MC and shifter romance. Bo, the omega was as tough and strong as the alpha Ryker and it was great to watch these two figure out how to be together. Ryker had to learn how to deal with Bo's strength and would eventually come to realize just how necessary it is for both partners to be complete and independent people. The hurt/comfort aspects were very well done and the outside threat from Rykers old gang made added additional tension to the romance. Plot and romance were nicely balanced and supported each other well. The performance by Barney Parkwynne was good and captured the flavor of all the characters well.

It was ok

Story: The story was just ok. I liked Bo enough but Ryker, not so much. I didn't really think there was much of a connection.

Narration: This one was hard for me. I have heard this narrator's work before and enjoyed it but this one was a miss for me.

Wild Ride - I struggled with the narration choices

I'm not sure how I feel about the story. I was so distracted by the narration choices - the pacing, the weird ending drag out, and other things that I can't say with 100% certainty that the story was an issue or could be better. I'm going to read the book to see.

Not for me

This is the last Barney Parkwynne narration I'll listen to. I just can't handle his voice. Also, the story was not much better. An alpha and an omega from two different worlds, only together because they knew they were fated mates. I felt sorry for Bo the entire time because Riker was such an arrogant prick. Bo's family was close to him and he couldn't even introduce his mate to them. I just couldn't get into it.

Different take on your usual shifter/MC books

I loved this version of an MC/ shifter storyline. The characters are very likeable with their issues and problems. Barney gives these characters no only their voices but their personalities as well. Great job Barney! Written well.
