In 2014, Kevin Grange left his job as a paramedic in Los Angeles to work in a response area with 2.2 million acres: Yellowstone National Park. Seeking a break from city life and urban EMS, he wanted to experience pure nature, fulfill his dream of working for the National Park Service, and take a crash-course in wilderness medicine. Between calls, Grange reflects upon the democratic ideal of the National Park mission, the beauty of the land, and the many threats facing it. With visitation rising, budgets shrinking, and people loving our parks to death, he realized that - along with the health of his patients - he was also fighting for the life of “America’s Best Idea”.

𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁!
He's done it again! Another exciting book from Kevin, this time describing the highs and lows of his role providing rescue services and wilderness medicine to patients in the Yosemite, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Kevin also shares his own experience with work related mental health challenges. His raw honesty and bravery in speaking out about this (I believe), is necessary if we are to break the stigma of mental health conditions within emergency services. I couldn't put this one down. Highly recommend. Thanks for all that you do, Kevin!

The intro was captivating
Then it veered sideways a bit but the story came back.

Worth a listen for outdoorsy people!
I liked the flow of the reading, great stories and read well so I could envisage in my head what was happening. Interesting listen.

What am I going to do with the rest of my life?!
This is such a brilliant book, story so well told. I’m honestly so sad it’s finished 😣 exciting life full of highs and lows. Brilliant.

Entertaining
Not a bad listen but didn't find the stories were extreme adventures.
Good to listen to while you are out hiking as a reminder things can and do go wrong.

Very interesting and a wonderful insight
I enjoyed this book. Sometimes slightly tedious due to a fairly monotone delivery by the narrator but well worth the listen. Wonderful insight into to the challenges faced by a group of highly skilled, brave and selfless park rescuers. Although in Australia, I am so very grateful that these incredible people are there to assist people in distress.
