Publisher's Summary

Roman Valdez is the Devil.

He sneers at me.
He hates me.
He wants to hurt me.

Let him try.

He thinks he’s untouchable. The self-appointed Devil of Sun Valley High.
But I’ve already lost everything and everyone I care about.
It’s me he should be afraid of. Not the other way around.
Because I have nothing left to lose, and he can’t break what’s already broken.

At least, that’s what I thought.

But when the Devil begins picking up the pieces, I realize while he might not break me. He can absolutely shatter me, heart and soul.

And I just might let him.

Wicked Devil is a stand-alone, high school romance with enemies to lovers/bullying themes. It deals with sensitive subjects some may find triggering and is recommended for mature listeners 17 and up.

It’s a great story

I’ve read the book but had to have it once it came out on audible. The narrator does a fantastic job the only thing that would of made it better if a male narrator read Roman’s parts

WICKED narration to match this DEVILish story!

This was a great hs bully romance! From the mc’s and side characters it was so perfectly narrated! The story is soooo good! Some terrible incidents, heartbreaking really to the off the charts chemistry between the two mc’s! Spend the credit, this was more than a worthy listen and one of the better in this genre! Loved it! The author Daniela Romero really created an interesting narrative and I can’t wait for this series to continue and become available on audible!!!

Very very good

I spent a lot of this book crying because I felt so much for the characters . I always have to tell my husband that crying during a book means that it's a fantastic book if it can pull those emotions from you. I could not stop listening and finished this in one day. At the end of the book the Narrator says that giving a review is like giving a hug to an author. So Daniela Romero, consider this a great big fat hug! Thank you for a great listen!

Wow! A great start to a new series!!

Wicked Devil is the first book in the Devils of Sun Valley High Series and what a way to get a series started. Daniela Romero is a new author to me. First, let me start by saying that personally, I haven’t found many Latinx authors who write romance with these types of tropes. I am really excited to have come across this book and I absolutely loved it. I both listened to the audio and read the e-book and they were both fantastic. When I listen to books with dual point of view, I usually go for books with dual narrators also. Wicked Devil was narrated by Valentina Ortiz, who did a phenomenal job with the narration of both Allie and Roman’s characters. The story was easy to follow and Valentina brought to life all of the feelings and emotions.

I really didn’t know what to expect going into to this book. I thought I would get some typical high school drama with some hot moments and a great story, but I was not expecting to get sucked in from the very beginning in this emotional rollercoaster of a story. This book was deep and covered some very serious topics, including assault and profiling. There we so many parts that had my heart beating so fast and there were those parts that had me in tears.

Wicked Devil kicks off this series with our heroin, Alejandra “Allie” Ramirez, who at 17 found herself having to leave the only life she knew behind and pretend to be someone she isn’t. As a new student at Sun Valley High, she becomes an easy target, especially for the leader of The Devils, Roman Valdez. Roman tries to make Allie’s life miserable, but he soon realizes she isn’t like any other girl. Allie has fire burning inside of her. She is fierce. She is strong. She is one of a kind. My heart broke for her so many times. How much can one person take? How much can be ripped out of one person before they break?

Daniela Romero’s writing was wonderful and hearing her words come to life was all too consuming. There were moments while listening that I closed my eyes and told myself, “this really isn’t happening right now.” I loved that Wicked Devil was more than Roman and Allie’s story. The author did a fantastic job introducing a lot of the other characters who played a significant role in this story. The Devils, Roman, Emilio and Dominique ruled the school. These boys were more than friends, they were a family unit. They always looked out for one another and protected each other to whatever extreme. I loved their relationship, their brotherhood and I LOVE the way Emilio and Dominique adopted Allie into their family. Allie’s relationship with them was unique.

There was a lot that happened in this book, but two main events that shifted this story and made it tug at my heartstrings. I’m not going to mention them so as not to spoil anything, but both events proved how strong of a woman Allie Ramirez is, but also showed a different side of the Devils; these boys were emotional, they were sensitive, they were loyal.

I’m so happy to have found this series and this author.

High School Romance

Wicked Devil by Daniela Romero is an enemies-to-lovers high school bully romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Valentina Ortiz.

The book does come with a author note “Wicked Devil is a stand-alone, high school romance with enemies to lovers/bullying themes. It deals with sensitive subjects some may find triggering and is recommended for mature listeners 17 and up.”

This is the first book of Daniela's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. The book took a turn I wasn't expecting. The relationship between Allie and Roman was messy but you couldn't help but root for them. I also had the eBook and was happy to see that the audiobook had an extra chapter that shows Allie and Roman 4 months later.

I can't wait for the next book in the series Savage Devil to be released on February 3,2021 so I can get Emilio and Bibiana story.

Valentina did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.

Steamy, sultry, and compelling.

I picked this up because it sounded good, so why not try a new author? Oh my god. The plot was addictive from the beginning. The two main characters were intriguing ++and familiar. The story shocked me with the dark turn, and the way it winded through the darkness, even until the last chapters, where they finally were able to climb out, somewhat, rings TRUE. The hurt and heartbreak is reality that many people face, and the words put into print provides ability to help people see the heartache from the inside. The attraction is real, the friendship is real, and I know more is to come, so I whole-heartedly look forward to the next book!

The audiobook is absolutely amazing, as well. The narration- the accents, the linguistics, A++ for the performance. The acting during the dark chapters brought tears to my eyes; the emotion the narrator brings to this audiobook is worth of an award-I’ve never had an audiobook be able to make tears come to my eyes because my heart in clenching in sorrow for what the characters are experiencing. Unbelievable narration!

Meh...

3 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

It was just meh.....

This was my first time reading one of Daniela Romero books. I wouldn’t go far as saying this is a bully romance, more of a school romance. Not sure why this was considered a bully romance, when there was hardly any bullying happening.

Anyhow, here are some reasons why I gave Wicked Devil 3 stars....

1. I never felt Allie and Roman connection or feel their chemistry between them. It just wasn’t there...one minute he hated her and the next minute he would’ve done anything for Allie.

2. Their were way too many unanswered questions. For starters....How did her mom pass away? What did her Dad actually do to make those men do what they did to Allie? Also where did the man disappear to that she thought was watching her at the restaurant? And this is why my next reason will make sense.

3. I’m going to be totally honest here....I think Chapter 35 was completely irrelevant to the storyline and I feel the Author put this in just because of what is going on in the world right now.

4. Wasn’t a huge fan on how Roman and the boys found out what happened to Allie. I think it would’ve been more emotional if Allie would’ve told her own story.

5. What kind of ending was that? I was like....ummm ok... Is this a cliffhanger? Because it didn’t mention a cliffhanger, but then again we also didn’t get any type of closure...

Overall like I said the book was just okay.....not the worst book I’ve read, but definitely not one of my best... I think the book could’ve been so much more if we were giving more answers and if the story had more growth..

Audiobook reviews: 5 stars to Valentina Ortiz for doing an incredible job narrating! This was my first time listening to her and I hope to see her do more audiobooks.

Wicked Devil ~ Review

Wicked Devil is the first book in the Devils of Sun Valley High series. This book is told from dual points of view from Roman and Alejandra (Allie). This book is dark and has a trigger warning, so readers should be warned.

Allie just moved in with her father who she didn't know existed after her mother died. It is her senior year of high school, and she just wants to get through school to get back to her old friends and life. She starts at Sun Valley High School and on her first day she gets paired with Roman. Roman is suppose to show her around the school. He thinks she's a rich princess and wants her to know that she won't run the school. Him and his two friends are the head of the school and run everyone. The more time he spends with Allie he starts to fall for her. Allie falls for Roman as well.

However something traumatic happens to Allie. Roman doesn't know because she hid it from everyone. So Roman treats her very mean. Roman's dad was the one who found Allie, and later when Allie is in trouble again he puts two and two together about how his son knows Allie. At the end can Roman be there for Allie when she needs him? Can Allie trust Roman again?

This book was great! I really enjoyed it and I can't wait for the next book in the series. The narrator for the audiobook was great as well! She really brought the characters to life!

Had my emotions all over the place

I really loved this story. It brought out soo many different emotions from me. I was angry, hot, swoony(I can never get enough when it comes to a possessive man like Roman) and had an all around high for the entire time I listened. I started this audio when I woke up and listened through out the entire day. I never wanted to stop. I am excited to read book 2. 5 stars!

Great start to this series

4*
Ali didn't expect her life to change as much as it has, the death of her mum, having to move in with a father she's never had contact with. What more can go wrong in her life?
That would be meeting the Devils especially Roman.
The Devils consists of Roman, Dominic and Amelio, all football players who rule those around them.
Roman isn't so happy to begin with and makes her life difficult until something clicks. He's not used to feeling out of sorts and Ali certainly confuses him.
Unfortunately things happen out of their control causing her to spiral.
I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and reading/listening to this book.
A new author for myself and I can't wait for the next book

Absolutely Amazing.

Roman, Emilio, and Dom are the top of the hierarchy at Sun Valley High, they are focused on football and don't have time for any distractions. They are loners in the sense that they don't have time for others. Everybody wants to be a part of their crew but nobody lives up to their standards..

Then comes Alejandra (Allie) Ramirez, she is to be shown around by Roman per the principal's request and things start to escalate from there. Her life hasn't been all rainbows and sunshine, but it was happy.. until she got uprooted and thrust into a new life she didn't ask for nor did she really want.

The dynamics of these characters was captivating. The relationship between them all was unique and enticing. I was addicted. I couldn't put it down. I wanted more.. Then things went DARK! I mean wow. I had no idea! I was shocked and intrigued and angry and needed redemption. I was all over the place, my emotions were at war with each other. I loved Roman and Emilio and Dom, but I hated them at the same time. I couldn't believe the way things played out, but I understood it. It was a hard pill to swallow and when the truth came to light and all was revealed I was BALLING.. like full on ugly cry. It was heartbreaking. Then things with Dom... very well written, I cried so hard, I can't imagine how that must be and I hate that there are people that deal with that daily. It hurts my soul.

The things Allie has had to face in her short life are things that nobody should have to go through, but unfortunately they are reality for some and that is what broke me the most, this is real life for some people and that is a hard pill to swallow. I sympathize. Though I know that I can't fully understand the emotions, I had some seriously strong emotions myself while reading about it.

I loved this book so much, the love and affection, the heartache, the pain.. It was all worth it. This was a hard earned HEA and it was astoundingly beautiful. I loved this story and all the emotions that came with it. I felt them so strongly. I can't wait to see what comes next.

Valentina Ortiz killed it! She made this book so much more! Her accent and her emotions were perfect. I loved it and I loved her smooth voice, I could listen to her forever and never tire of her beautiful voice. She hit the emotions so perfectly it was like she WAS the character, like she lived through the things Allie lived through and she made me FEEL IT!! Well done. Very well done..
