Real heartbreak is unmistakable. We think of nothing else. We feel nothing else. We care about nothing else. Yet while we wouldn't expect someone to return to daily activities immediately after suffering a broken limb, heartbroken people are expected to function normally in their lives, despite the emotional pain they feel. Now psychologist Guy Winch imagines how different things would be if we paid more attention to this unique emotion - if only we can understand how heartbreak works, we can begin to fix it.

With every encounter, we either demonstrate that we'll protect what we value, or that we'll give ourselves away. Healthy boundaries preserve our integrity. Unlike defenses, which isolate us from our true selves and from those we love, boundaries filter out harm.

What did you like best about Why Good People Can't Leave Bad Relationships? What did you like least?
This book had some good parts but then it got religious. I wish there was a warning label
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
couldn't get past all the bible references
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
narrator ok
Any additional comments?
I would really like to know in advance if they are going to play the God card.

Who chose the narrator?
I really enjoyed the premise of the book... I thought that it held some very pertinent and valid information. However, you can only get that information when you can get past the voice of the narrator. she is very nasally and wait 2 emphatic when there's certainly no need for it with the verbage of this book. I enjoyed the content however, I probably would have benefited more if I had just taken the time to read it myself. it was really a struggle for me to take the narrator seriously!

Couldn't Get Past the Narration
Would you try another book from Cindi Sansone-Braff and/or Rina Adachi?
No, I wouldn't. In my opinion, this author had a style of subtly putting the reader (listener) down, if the reader (listener) didn't want to follow her advice given in the book.
Has Why Good People Can't Leave Bad Relationships turned you off from other books in this genre?
This book did not impress me. I had a difficult time hearing the content, as the voice of the narrator was the worst I ever heard in an audiobook. This narrator's voice was nasal, twangy and had an arrogant tone to it. I am looking into how to return this book. I am not going to finish it.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The narrator's voice was very unpleasant.

This book could change your life
What made the experience of listening to Why Good People Can't Leave Bad Relationships the most enjoyable?
This book is excellent- intelligently written important & useful information- could definitely be life-changing for the 'so-called good people' of the world, like me. I have listened through a lot of books looking for help with these issues, and was really surprised to find that this book deals head on with all of the people pleasing, self deprecating, overly "nice" behavior that is currently ruining my chances of ever having a good relationship. It's a must - really. I don't subscribe to a few things in this book- I personally don't believe that communicating with the dead is possible- no way, no how. Still a good book, and just let that roll if you're like me- there's plenty of wisdom to make up for it in the rest of the book. I'm not a religious person, but the biblical references didn't bother me.Lastly, the narrator is more than a little annoying- and I almost dumped the book after five minutes but the content was too good. I can't believe this person was chosen to narrate an audio book. Her tone is nasal and almost sounds computer generated at times- wow. Despite that, still excellent.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator not only detracted from the book, she almost renders it unlistenable. Painful.

The only thing I didn't like about the book is where she talks about communicating with the dead and channeling. I really thought those parts could have been left out.
