Was looking forward to this, but it was pretty disappointing. Underwhelming, uninspired and confusing story.
No real plot line or point to this book. The author seems to really jump around and contradict herself a lot in the story (eg saying that there is no taste makers now and people have freedom to make their own fashion choices etc, but then shortly after seems to be berating and judging). If the attempt is humour it misses the mark and comes off as condescending and judgemental at a lot of points which is sad.
Some funny moments or interesting ideas, but on a whole it’s told in a disjointed way that’s hard to connect to. By half way it was a real struggle. Feels like something I might have read 10 years ago.

It's just a collection of articles that continually contradict each other. No wonder the narrator sounds completely bored out of her mind. And although Kirstie does try to be earnest and 'of the people', and I get that she is often just being ironic... it still comes across as privileged and dull. I read/listened to the whole book just to be absolutely sure and it never improved.

I really enjoyed this book. It was interesting listening to the different experiences and perspectives of the author in the fashion industry. I'm not into labels so was a bit lost with the references to different designers, but it gave me some insight into that world which was valuable. If you have an interest in fashion or have an affinity for clothes, I'm sure you'll find this book interesting too.
