Summary

The White-throated Sparrow can be found inhabiting open woodlands, forest edges, and shrublands throughout North America. This species has a distinctive white throat that contrasts with its greyish-brown upperparts and yellowish underparts. The male is especially striking due to its bold black and white stripes along its head and back. White-throated Sparrows sing their clear whistles in northern forests. Adults may have head stripes of either white or tan, and scientists have found some odd differences in behavior between these two color morphs.

This binaural audio recording features the White-throated Sparrow birdsong recorded in its natural habitat in Minnesota’s Gran Portage State Forest near a delicate babbling river stream together with other birds, insects, and ground creatures. Other birdsongs include: American Bittern, Swamp Sparrow, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker drumming, American Robin.
