Publisher's Summary

From NY Times best seller CD Reiss...

Catherine's long-lost love is found.

Catherine Barrington is a rich girl. Chris Cartwright is a poor boy.

He left her to make something of himself. A man she could be proud of. A man she could bring home to her parents. A man she could marry.

On the trading floor he became the man he knew he could be. Now, it’s time to return.

Rich girl.

Poor boy.

She didn’t care about his money, but he didn’t believe her. Soon after he left, all the money was gone.

Her life is hell.

Now he’s back, and he’s different. Pristine. Gorgeous. Rich.

Rich boy.

Poor girl.

Money was never the barrier - until now.

White Knight is a stand-alone in the same world as King of Code, with its own beginning, middle, and end. You don't need to listen to anything else to listen to White Knight.

Wow

This was an awesome read. A second chance of a love that grew as they each grew from the love of each other. Compelling from the first word till the last.
Narration was awesome too.

So romantic!!

This is a true romance story and I loved it. The words are poetic and speak to your heart. Chris and Catherine have a love that truly stands the test of time. The narrators were perfect. I love Andy and Sebastian. Xe Sands is new to me and boy is her voice magical. Her cadence is great and I will definitely look for more of her work.

Emotional Ride but slow at times...

First of all, with CD Reiss you can't go wrong. She is an amazing writer.

And with Sabastian, you can be assured to get the most for your ride.

Having said that, the story is worth listening. However, I had hoped for more intimate steamy scenes. CD usually has a lot more erotic content but under the circumstances, I guess you just can't add sex scenes wherever. There are many teary moments.

Over all, the story left me with sadness, loss for realism and not enough erotic moments.

Her other novels are way way better! CD is still amazing!

Well Done!

The story is evocative and sweet. The naration perfectly captures the characters’ emotions, the turmoil of their youth and the people they became.

CD Reiss is an excellent writer

CD Reiss has an amazing writing talent. I love how she can weave other books into the story without adhering to timelines. She is able to weave other books into each story. I'm not the best with articulating the nuances but she is an excellent writer and I will always purchase her books without reading the summary. I don't often write reviews because I am just an ordinary reader/listener but this book earned the time. If you are just a casual reader, take the chance! It's worth it and hopefully you will search out her other titles.

Narration:
Andi never fails. She always does an excellent job. I only know Xe Sands from these books but she does a great job. Sebastian, you redeemed yourself with this narration! I love him doing Lauren Blakely's books and his early reads but felt after he got popular at times he lacked emotion and was just "phoning it in". It was good to hear him back at what I feel is him back into it. Maybe its CD's writing but I truly enjoyed his narration this time.

Overall:
I am not a professional writer, just a professional. I listen to probably 5 books a week and this was worth my time to write the review and thank CD Reiss and the narrators for another great escape.

New Favorite Author & New Favorite Book

I loved King of Code… I’m obsessed with White Knight.

CD Reiss’s bio on Goodreads says that she’s known as the Shakespeare of Smut, and I couldn’t agree more.

In all honesty, I actually don’t think that her books are all that smutty, but maybe that’s because I’ve read a lot of steamy romance novels in my time.

I devoured White Knight all in one sitting and I was absolutely not expecting to!

While I was excited to read it after reading King of Code, I figured it’d be one of those books I’d eventually get to, like, 2 years after adding it to my TBR. (As is the unfortunate norm.) Especially since it is an eBook and I rarely have time to actually sit down and read.

The day before, however, my husband and I went to the beach and I decided to start the book. Little did I know it would consume me and I’d obsessively read it to the very last page.

Fair warning to anyone who reads this book on their Kindle and has the percentage read feature turned on… this book has a few chapters from two of her other books at the end, so even though it says you’re only halfway through, you’re actually almost finished at that point.

That threw me off so bad because I kept thinking to myself, “Oh my goodness, this HEA is wrapping up, but I’m only halfway through! Something horrible is going to happen!”

Alas, it did not.

I think the thing I loved the most about this book, aside from the gorgeous prose, was how intense the sparks were between Catherine and Chris. Their connection was one of those rare instalove instances that I was wholly invested in.

CD spun the magic of young first love like the magician she is. It felt like the whirlwind it was meant to be. I was completely wrapped up in their love story and was just as hesitant and hopeful as Catherine was when they reunited years later.

This was such a gorgeous romance with the perfect amount of steam.

Great story, Great Narrators

The author was so smart having 3 narrators. It helped in the past and present dialogue. The story was amazing. CD Reiss wrote a standalone that will keep you reading and want more. The narrators are some of the best in the business and they didn't disappoint.

Heartbreaking most of the time

I liked the approach of having a different narrator for the younger and older Catherine. That was pretty genius. Especially that brief exchange in her mind where her younger and older selves were at war.

Xe Sands delivery - it was very powerful. You felt the longing every single moment. Sebastian York, again, brilliant.

The story, childhood lovers torn apart, and find each other years later after misunderstandings and a switch in fortunes. I loved most of it, there were times it drug a bit in the middle. When it finally paid off, I didn't feel the 'bang' or connection with it.

Second chance romance

Chris and Catherine were star-crossed teenage lovers...she was from a wealthy family and he was dirt poor. When they are caught in a compromising position by her parents, Catherine promises to stop seeing Chris so her parents would not cause problems for him. Chris leaves town and promises that he will be back. 13 yrs later, Chris is now wealthy...albeit in a bit of legal trouble with his hedge fund company...and Catherine is broke. When the family’s factory..,the town’s main job supplier...shut down a decade ago, Catherine used up her trust fund and sold off family heirlooms to support the ppl.
Now Chris is back...he’s divorced btw...and trying to rekindle a relationship with Catherine. Will Catherine forgive him for his long absence?
Overall it was a nice story but seemed a bit slow at times. Was difficult to follow the jumps between past and present.

CD Reiss knocks it out of the park again!

I finished this audiobook yesterday and am still trying to process this. I almost want to go back and re-listen to King of Code because it sort of layers atop that book. The two stories happening at once like a three dimensional landscape laid atop each other. This is a stand-alone, but it's so unique, like a coming-of-age and personal growth and discovery and sexually charged romance novel all in one. All narrators did a terrific job! How can you not love Andi and Sebastian and XE!
OK - that said, I really liked this book. CD Reiss' writing is incomparable. You really never know what to expect because she managed to dig SO deep with feelings and potent emotions, it's so split-second and you've realized she's pulled a thread of feeling right out of YOU and attached it to her story and you're there, hooked... and forever changed.

I love this book!

I’ve listened to a lot of books. This is my absolute favorite. I love the characters. I love how it’s written with the young perspectives along with the grown up “who they have become” perspectives. I just love everything about it.
