Publisher's Summary

Martine Brooks is in a pickle. Derrick Adams is in a jam.

Pickles and jam. Not exactly a hot combo. Unless the "pickle" is a sultry, sassy cat shifter and the "jam" is a gorgeous hunk of wolf.

Derrick is cursed to die if he doesn't make the woot-woot with his life mate on the night of the next full moon. Martine's been held captive by a power-hungry warlock for six long months, forced to do his bidding before finding herself stuffed in a cat carrier and ditched at a 7-Eleven.

After rescuing her from a Dumpster, Derrick and Martine strike a mutually beneficial deal: Mate, save a life, walk away - both alive and kicking. Win! Yet, there are kinks in the plan. Like the fact that Martine's one-time captor is on the hunt, planning to extinguish all of her nine lives at once. Or the fact the curse threatening Derrick's life is about to throw him a monster curve ball.

But the biggest kink might prove to be Derrick and Martine themselves, two avowed commitment-phoebes... who are beginning to wonder what forever looks like.

Wonderful books!

Love all of Dakota Cassidy's books...so witty and well written! I laugh out loud and love the "phrases" that she uses...she has to be from the south!

Too much drama, not enough humor, ending fell flat

As always Hollie does a Stellar job of narrating. I will admit to being a little disappointed with the second book, it felt forced and contrived. It had almost no recognizable humor. The storyline was ok but it didn't flow smoothly and left giant plot holes which left the reader with questions like "This woman's a cat shifter stuck in shift. Where is J.C.'s best friend, who was left sleeping off her injuries in the last book in a house not too far away? Why can't they get her input on the situation or see if she can communicate with the newcomer?" Other than a very brief mention she's completely disappeared suddenly from the storyline. Other times it was a little predictable. There were some places that felt needlessly drawn out like the whole "I can't believe you don't know who your mother is speech." I got impatient with that part. The badly rhymed "incantations", oddly placed characters which had you asking "What the heck is SHE doing there?" and the explanation for her arrival on the scene just had me shaking my head. I will admit again to being disappointed with book 2. Too much drama, not enough humor, and the ending fell flat. You could tell the author enjoyed writing book 1 but couldn't find the same feeling in book 2. I still look forward to reading the next installment of the series though because I have faith in the writer's ability. I know she is very talented and will not fail to entertain.

Fun read

It's a good funny read with substance. A little behind the scenes sub plot to the "have to mate curse. ". It's a toss up which I like better book one or this one but I will make sure I read/listen the next book in the series.

Light Paranormal Romance

I came to this book after looking on Goodreads for funny paranormal novel recommendations. I have to say, other than being contemporary, I'm not clear what's funny in this book. It seemed like a straightforward paranormal romance to me. I haven't read the first book in the series and I don't have any inclination to follow this series further. The book is... fine. It has a couple of twists and turns, it's just a little bland. The narrator doesn't help. I've heard this performer narrate other books with more life and colour, however her flat delivery with strange pauses all over the place (bad edit? page turns? who know) does this book no favours. She sounds bored. If you're looking for a quick, light romance this may suit you, but there are better ones out there.
