Publisher's Summary

There’s more to winning battles than fists and feet

For world-renowned professional fighter Georges St-Pierre, the greatest asset is not physical strength or athleticism - it’s a sense of purpose. From his beginnings as a small, mercilessly bullied child first discovering karate to his years as a struggling garbage collector who spent all his free time in the gym, his hard-fought rise in the sport of mixed martial arts, and his long, painful recovery from a career-threatening injury, Georges never lost sight of his ambition to become the greatest martial artist of all time. In The Way of the Fight, Georges for the first time reveals what propelled him not only to become a champion but to embrace obstacles as opportunities to build character.

Georges’ story is interwoven with fascinating insights from those who know him best: his mother, who tells of his drive to master new skills, even as a child. His mentor Kristof Midoux, who describes a young fighter with an extraordinary sense of discipline. His Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teacher John Danaher, who witnessed the development of an indomitable work ethic. His coach Firas Zahabi, who worked alongside the champion through a potentially career-ending injury. And his longtime friend, training partner and manager, Rodolphe Beaulieu, who may understand this intensely focused athlete more than anyone.

The Way of the Fight is an inspirational look into the mindset of a master. To Georges, all life is competition, and there’s no more perfect metaphor for competition than the life of a fighter. He explains the value of discipline, risk and even fear, with the wisdom of one who knows that nothing is assured - his next fight could always be his last. Drawing inspiration from fighting legends, Eastern philosophy and a trusted inner circle, The Way of the Fight is a powerful, life-changing guide to living with purpose and finding the way to accomplish your loftiest goals.

Great! Great Book

This book is outstanding a lot of ways particularly in how it dispenses with advice. George is a very intelligent athlete and a class act all around. The story of his life is very interesting. What I found particularly useful was the talks he gave about fear and anxiety. The only shortcoming of this book I can point to is the abysmal narration. Many a great book on audible has been ruined by a subpar narrator and this book almost fell into that category. However. I think the book is well worth your time to listen to and I think you'll enjoy greatly.

Filled with cliches and abrupt interruptions

Each chapter interrupted by a third person over and over. Too many cliches for my taste too. I feel like the book doesn't have much depth. You probably should have interest in fighting beforehand otherwise the long winded descriptions of his career will be dull. The third person interruptions are demoralizing. You want George to continue on a train of thought and just when it's getting good his trainer or mother cuts him off with some unrelated information.

A bit dry at times....

But the book gave great insight into a unique martial artist. One who doesn’t follow the same formula as 90% of all MMA fighters. There’s a sincerity in his approach to be the best. Tons of jewels within these pages. My favorite section was THE MASTER with BJJ COACH extraordinaire John Danaher. I definitely recommend this book!!!!

Don't waste your money!

This might be a decent book to read, but the narrator is horrible! I'm a huge St Pierre fan, but couldn't make it through the first chapter. I rarely review books, but couldn't pass and let someone else make the mistake i did.

Amazing story from an amazing human being.

I am a trauma surgeon in training and thoroughly understand the need for hard work, perseverance, and discipline when pursuing a difficult goal. This book is a genuine and sincere excerpt from the life of an inspiring man. I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a little motivation/inspiration. Thank you to Mr. St. Pierre and his dedicated team for sharing this story!
