Awful narration

I’ve listened to most of the Harper’s books but was so disappointed this time. As usual the story was fantastic. I love everything from Rosie Clarke but this was spoilt by the narration. It was terrible, stilted and seemed as though the narrator had problems reading some of the words. The ‘posh’ accents weren’t right at all and the whole thing grated on my nerves. I very nearly gave up but really wanted to hear how it ended. I’ve never been so glad for a book to end. That’s not like me at all I love my audiobooks with a passion. It’s not like me to write a bad review. The book is wonderful but was spoilt by the narration.

Great continuation of the Harper’s girls story

I loved books 1&2 in this series and was so hooked I wanted to hear the rest. For once I wish I had ready books 3-5 rather than listened because the great story was ruined by the atrocious narrator, they changed narrators in book 3, which was a shame.. It is testament to how much I enjoyed the previous books that I persevered with the dreadful narration. The awful accents, the lack of flow and the fact the narrator put the emphasis on the wrong words in each sentence made it less about enjoying and getting lost in the story and more about trying to hear the story despite her dreadful performance. I hope there is another book in the series but if Polly Edsall narrates it, I will get the paperback instead of the audiobook!!
