Story
Can't anyone teach me how to pray?"" Millions of people today are asking the same question. There is a sense of the necessity of prayer - we have to pray. But how?' Prayer is central to Christian faith; indeed, as Timothy Keller notes in his introduction, it is the main way we experience deep change. Yet so many people struggle with prayer - a struggle that the author himself has shared. This wise and inspiring book is the fruit of those struggles, offering a real and glorious vision of what it can mean to seek God in prayer.

Story
The resurrection of Jesus is at the heart of the Christian faith, bringing God's power - which will some day heal and renew the world - into our lives now. That power is here only partially, but substantially; and this gives Christians a realistic, but irrepressible, hope. It is a hope for change in our lives and in our society; a hope that changes Christians in every way, shaping every aspect of our lives.

Story
Timothy Keller focuses on Jesus' best-known parable - the prodigal son - as a paradigm for the central messages of Christianity: grace, hope and salvation. In The Prodigal God, New York pastor Timothy Keller uses the story of the prodigal son to shine a light on the beautiful central message of Jesus: the gospel of grace, hope and salvation. Keller argues that the parable of the prodigal son, while Jesus' best-known parable, is also his least understood.

Story
Do we work to live or live to work? In today's increasingly competitive and insecure economic environment, we often question the reason for work: Why am I doing this? Why is it so hard? And what can I do about it? Work may seem just a means to an end: we do it to earn the money to enjoy life outside the workplace. Here, Timothy Keller argues that God's plan is radically more ambitious: he actually created us to work.

Its extent reaches down to the flight of electrons, up to the movements of galaxies, and into the heart of man. Its nature is wise and just and good. And its goal is the Christ-exalting glorification of God through the gladness of a redeemed people in a new world.

Story
For many years an atheist, C. S. Lewis vividly describes the spiritual quest that convinced him of the truth and reality of Christianity, in his famous autobiography. "In the Trinity Term of 1929 I gave in, and admitted that God was God...perhaps the most dejected and reluctant convert in all England." Thus Lewis describes memorably the crisis of his conversion. Surprised by Joy reveals both that crisis and its momentous conclusion that would determine the shape of Lewis' entire life.

Publisher's Summary
Acclaimed writer and pastor Timothy Keller grapples with the age-old question: how do we deal with pain and suffering, both in our own lives and in the world around us? The problem of pain is a perennial one, and for those who undergo particular sufferings it can often be the largest obstacle for trusting in a good and loving God.
If such a God exists, why is there so much suffering in the world? And how do we deal with it when it comes into our lives? In his fullest and most passionately argued audiobook since 2008's best seller The Reason for God, New York pastor and church planter Tim Keller brings his authoritative teaching, sensitivity to contemporary culture and pastoral heart to this pressing question, offering no easy answers but giving guidance, encouragement and inspiration.

The three sections address distinct audiences. Readers may find it more enjoyable to focus on the section they're most convicted to read. The narrator was okay, but the experience would have been much better if it were narrated by Tim Keller himself.

Masterpiece on the topic! A must read!
I have long grappled with and studied the issue of 'pain and suffering' in the life of a christian. There have been so many teachings and books by various authors trying to give explanation or some consolation for those finding themselves in 'paing and suffering' not for a season but for a life-time and I have found all that I have covered in this topic to be lacking empathy, understanding, insight and even theological grounds in some cases. More often than not, the problem is sought in the person themselves - 'something is wrong with your life' type of comments (remember the boook of Jobe?); next in line are those preachers and teachers who promise 'you do this and that and the recipe will work' (the 'divine vending machine' approach) . There are also those who just sweep the problem under the carpet and say ' well, swallow it - the will of God is mystery' (put up with it and 'disengage your heart and brain' approach). Neither of these approaches is knowledgeable, scriptural, edifying or offering any sort of real consolation or understanding. This book by Keller, however, I find to be the first ground-braker on the subject! Here you will find some explanation, some encouragement, lots of empathy and some horizon on how to continue a life that is ridden with suffering and no hope. This book is a 'balm' for the hurting heart, a theological pillar for the mind on the subject and a correct understanding of what little there is and can hardly be understood in the mysterious will of God. REALLY - READ THIS BOOK!

Excellent answer to the most puzzling question.
Keller covers every angle in investigating how to handle pain and suffering. He addresses all the different sources and kinds of suffering, and shows that our view of life's purpose and God's plan have a huge bearing on how fitted we will be to face it. He shows that, while the Bible doesn't address every question we have or provide a one-size-fits-all answer, it gives us the resources in God and the gospel to have peace in the midst of turmoil.
