Classic Amanda Quick

Setting: London, England Late Victorian period
Genre: Romance/Mystery
Caroline Fordyce is the author of sensational novels published in serial form in the newspaper. But she is a woman with a scandal in her past. Adam Hardesty confronts Caroline, thinking she was somehow involved with the murder of a psychic medium and the theft of a diary that holds many of the secrets of his life. They decide to join forces to look for the diary and find out who killed the psychic.
I have to say that I really did not like Caroline for about the first 1/3 - 1/2 of the novel. She is insecure and strident. Adam is pretty one dimensional as well. The plot is interesting - at least average.
Louisa Jane Underwood, while not my least favorite reader, still doesn’t land in the top 10. There isn’t quite enough differentiation among the characters. However, she does a good job with the male voice.
Overall, this was an okay listen.

Don't like narrator.

story is reasonably entertaining. The narrator gave everyone irratating voices. At one point, I had to force myself to finish listening.

Engaging story

I love Amanda Quick's novels. She manages to write strong female characters who live in historical settings. This book is no exception.
