Publisher's Summary

When the recently widowed Melinda Monroe sees an ad she quickly decides that the remote mountain town of Virgin River might be the perfect place to escape her heartache and to re-energize the nursing career she loves.

But her high hopes are dashed within an hour of arriving: the cabin is a dump, the roads are treacherous, and the local doctor wants nothing to do with her. Realizing she's made a huge mistake, Mel decides to leave town the following morning. But a tiny baby, abandoned on a front porch, changes her plans... and a former marine cements them into place.

Fantastic!

What a great introduction to the series. I highly recommend these books to true romantics. A sleepy little town where ex marines gather to go fishing and hunting with their old leader. The stories are fantastic. The folks in Virgin River are all great characters! I wish I lived in virgin River.

OMG WOW

Ok so firstly i have to admit that as a 35 year old male i am a sucker for womens romance novels. That said i was unaware of how much this book would fit that description. I had already watched the Virgin River tv series before realising that it was based on a book and once i started to listen to the audio book I was hooked. The narrator was amazing, I new which character was talking just by the subtle changes in her tone of voice. I was amazed at how much i disliked the tv show after listening to the book, the tv show is all wrong. Any way i listened to this book and quickly followed that by listening to next 6 books in quick succession

The start of the story ...

I have read all of Robyn Carr’s Virgin River books and now have decided to download the audio books as well. I’m so glad I have. The narrator is excellent and listening added to bits to the story I had not taken in when I read the book. Highly recommended.

Great book, but the Netflix version is a disappointment

I’m very impressed with this book a real romance mills and booms type novel. In fact I was so impressed with the audio version I listened to it twice. My only disappointment is the Netflix version has misrepresented the storyline and characters. I would suggest to anyone showing interest in this book to first read or listen to the audio version first before viewing on Netflix. Netflix had twisted the storyline upside down which is very disappointing.

Predictable and boring

I was thankful when it ended. Blah characters who can do no wrong and everything is just 'perfect'. I seriously did not enjoy this.

Good - but not everyone’s cup of tea

I enjoyed listening to this but it’s very different to my normal read. It’s a book that seems very much part of a series where you get to know the characters in a small town and follow how relationships develop. Nothing too dramatic, just a nice story and a window into another world.

beautiful story

10 out of 10 for the performance. .simply because she didn't attempt to masculine her voice. And she has a beautiful reading time.

I was reading this book as well as listening and can very much recommend either or both. really a very lovely story.
