Publisher's Summary

Charity Styles has been wandering the Pacific aimlessly aboard her beloved sloop, Wind Dancer, and only recently returned to the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. Entering a secluded cove in the Sea of Abaco, in the Bahamas, she runs into an old acquaintance and the woman’s young daughter.

The two have a few things in common, not the least of which are four men’s bodies at the bottom of a 600-foot-deep blue hole on Hoffman's Cay. The reunion is fraught with “what ifs.” What if Charity had enjoyed a normal childhood like her friend’s young daughter? What if her mother hadn’t abandoned her as a child? What if her father hadn’t died when she was in college? What if Victor hadn’t been murdered?

Just as Charity begins to relax and truly enjoy the companionship of a good friend, disaster strikes. In an instant, she's faced with a terrible choice that will push Charity to her limits. Her action could mean the difference between life and death for both mother and daughter.

When Charity’s two worlds collide violently, a drug running operation is exposed, as well as a slick southern lawyer. Will Charity handle things in her usual way?

Kidnapping, Drugs and Charity...

Vigilant Charity is book five in the Charity Styles series. This book is coauthored with Kimberli A Bindschatel. When I first began listening I was unsure if I was going to like this book. It has Charity reminiscing and wondering if she could be, should have been a mother. She has a sleep over with Savanna's daughter Flo. They make paper dolls... oh boy! This is not the Charity Styles I'm accustomed to, far from it. Then Flo is kidnapped and Savanna is left for dead, face down in the water. Charity had been in the ocean taking a swim and saw. She's able to save Savanna but the kidnappers get away with Flo. At this point it's Charity to the rescue and the old Charity is back.
The beginning may be chick lit but once past the first few chapters this is a wonderful book with a really good story. My guess is the change in style is due to the coauthor.
Nick Sullivan as always does a wonderful job narrating.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Wonderful!

Author Wayne Stinnett developed his Charity Styles character as a true badass operator after having her first appear in his Jesse McDermitt series. For this 5th book is the Charity Styles series Stinnett takes on Kimberli A. Bindschatel of Poppy McVie series fame as coauthor. VIGILANT CHARITY is the result. The novel is an excellent action/suspense thriller. Nick Sullivan narrates all of Wayne Stinnett's novels supremely well.

if you like to hear the lord's name taken in vain.

If you like to hear the lord's name taken in vain then this is the book for you. I will not be listening to any more books in this series if this is the way they are going to continue. there are plenty of curse words other than the lord's name.

Charity 2.0

Another fun ride with Charity but with a much different perspective. Stinnett and Kimberli do a great job in deepening Charity’s character in this book. We all know the taking names and kicking butt Charity but now we are starting to more fully understand who she is as a person. Can’t wait to see where her story goes from here!!!
