About this listen

A number-one best seller in several categories with over 14,000 five-star ratings on Goodreads.

From the number-one New York Times best-selling and award-winning author Colleen Hoover comes "A stand-alone romantic thriller that is tragic, creepy, and brilliant!" (Mel Reader Reviews)

Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of best-selling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.

Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity's notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn't expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of the night their family was forever altered.

Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen's feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife's words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.

Sexy. Twisted. Consuming.

Due to graphic scenes and mature content, this book is recommended for listeners 18+.

This book should have been categorised as erotica/thriller not romance/thriller. Over the top sex scenes with a B Grade storyline. Narration was good and there were some good parts to the book. But overall, it was kind of just smut mixed with a bit mystery.

Twisted, disturbing and suspenseful is how this book was recommended to me, I really wanted to love this book however it was very underwhelming. I failed to feel any emotions or feelings for any of the characters and I found it very repetitive and drawn out. The plot twist at the end wasn't surprising and was very hard to believe. I was hoping to feel defeated, empty, a shell of a person after reading Verity but unfortunately it fell very short.

Underwhelming

the Verity narrator was very robotic and strange, like it was computer generated. the sex scenes were excessive, repetitive and jarring to listen to... i felt awkward but assumed that was cos im not hetero. the story was mysterious and creepy, but i hoped for something more...

Verity, I didn’t want to put it down. It really had me thinking. Loved it. Even the end had me wondering.
The narrator did a wonderful job giving each character their own distinct voices.
