Story
Eleven minutes passed before Delaney Maxwell was pulled from the icy waters of a Maine lake by her best friend, Decker Phillips. By then her heart had stopped beating. Her brain had stopped working. She was dead. And yet she somehow defied medical precedent to come back seemingly fine - despite the scans that showed significant brain damage. Everyone wants Delaney to be all right, but she knows she's far from normal. Pulled by strange sensations she can't control or explain, Delaney finds herself drawn to the dying. Is her altered brain now predicting death, or causing it?

Story
Littleport, Maine, has always felt like two separate towns: an ideal vacation enclave for the wealthy, whose summer homes line the coastline; and a simple harbour community for the year-round residents whose livelihoods rely on service to the visitors. Typically, fierce friendships never develop between a local and a summer girl - but that's just what happens with visitor Sadie Loman and Littleport resident Avery Greer. Each summer for almost a decade, the girls are inseparable - until Sadie is found dead.

Story
When Arden Maynor was six years old, she was swept away in a terrifying storm and went missing for days. Against all odds, she was found alive, clinging to a storm drain. Fame followed and so did fans, creeps and stalkers. As soon as she was old enough, Arden changed her name and left Widow Hills behind. Twenty years later, Olivia, as she is now known, is plagued by night terrors. She often finds herself out of bed in the middle of the night, sometimes streets away from her home. Then one evening she jolts awake in her yard, with the corpse of a man at her feet.

Publisher's Summary
Nobody really believes in a curse. Until you know the people who disappear. Too much coincidence, you look for reason. Too much death, you grasp for something to blame. Carson pulled Delaney out and he died on the side of the road with her mouth pressed to his. Her air in his body. Troy. She told the cops it was suicide. Didn't matter. The lake released her and grabbed another. But when Decker's father dies in a pool of spilled water on their kitchen floor, all Decker can feel is a slow burning rage. Because he knows that Delaney knew that his dad was going to die. She knew and backed out of his house and never said a word. Falcon Lake still has a hold on them both, and Decker can't forgive Delaney until he knows why.

Awesome!
I was looking for a new author and literally stumbled onto Megan Miranda. She captured me in the first paragraph. I am over 50, and it was a great trip for me to be able to experience young adult relationships. So many lessons the group had to learn. wow!
I am recommending this author to all my friends. thanks for the experience.

Painful to listen to
This book may appeal to a young teen, but I doubt it. Very very boring, no story line. I listened to half of the first book and gave it up. The more I listened the more frustrated I was getting with the story. I even fast forwarded through a lot of it to see if it picked up but it just stayed boring and repetitive. Hopefully it picked up in the second book but I could not stand it long enough to get there. Actually the narrator did an okay job but he had a really crummy story to work with.

A disappointing read
Decided to try this author and I must say, it was definitely a waste of time. The blurb made it sound really mysterious and interesting, but reads more like an angry teen rant. It isn't completely irredeemable, but I just can't bring myself to finish the book.
Performance was good, but the storyline wasn't much to work with.
Would probably appeal to goth teens with latent anger issues.

Disappointing
What did you like best about Vengeance? What did you like least?
This story had a ton of promise, but fell well short in my opinion. The ending was decent, but the bits in the middle were extremely painful. The main character was not even remotely likeable and I kept screaming for him to suck it up. He was the "poor pitiful me" angry type that I just can't connect with at all. It's hard to like a novel if you couldn't care less about the main character. I kept wishing that the "curse" would take him out.
Would you recommend Vengeance to your friends? Why or why not?
No, for the reasons already stated.
What three words best describe Therese Plummer’s voice?
She has a good voice.
Was Vengeance worth the listening time?
It wasn't horrible, but it also wasn't one that I would listen to again.
