Publisher's Summary

The tormented soul of a beast.

Created to be a mindless, bloodthirsty monster, Varnog chose to live an honorable life instead. From the day he joined the Vanguard, he’s only had eyes for one female. Petite and delicate in appearance, she awakens his protective instincts and a deep longing for something he can never have. However, his Linette has no need for protection. The elite pilot and Senior Officer of the Vanguard kicks ass and takes names with the best of them. With the final war against the Kryptid General looming on the horizon, he and Linette are called upon to help prepare the Vanguard and their allies for that ultimate confrontation.

But how can he when his every instinct demands he slaughters those he has pledged loyalty to? How can he persevere when many among the Coalition perceive him and his brothers as no more than the parasites they were born to be? What hope is there when claiming the one female to have ever touched his heart could turn her into an even greater abomination than he believes himself to be?

my favourite ever! wow

Well, Varnog is definitely an unpredictable book to digest.. I was thinking that it would be a lot of anger, mistrust and rage but instead it was the ultimate of all ultimates and a new species of H getting to know his h. There was lots of action in this one which I really liked. The rebellion, the mission and all our favourite characters coming to the fore.
I so loved the bits of comedy that emerged here and there and although Varnog is a lethal and bloodthirsty type due to his genetic enhancement, as soon as the dialogue starts with his h he falls like the Xian alphas.
And now, as Regine steered me toward thinking he wasnt the monster he started out as, I warmed to him and got a bit emotional over his unknown knowledge of himself.
I have loved Linette from the moment I listened to her a few books back and I'm glad she got over her crush.
Wow, the mission was full of suspense and angst and I marvelled at how Regine detailed the reasoning behind the actions.
And now, enemies are not what they seem and adversaries are looking to change course.
The subplot that is Varnog was another awesome insert that created some tension. It was both exciting, frightening and ingenious.
Oh boy what a ride hooray for Linette and the girls. But it was a close call and took till book 6 to get a crescendo.
Thanks for a fantastic book and Christian thankyou for an audible ride.
MY FAVOURITE EVER!!!!
