Story
It was just one night. But it was a night that would destroy everything. Judge Juliana Brody is a woman with principles. She is happily married, she doesn't drink, she doesn't lose control. She definitely doesn't sleep with a handsome stranger at a law convention. Except that, last night, that is exactly what she did. Matias understands that if anyone found out about their one-night stand it would destroy Juliana's marriage and, most likely, her career. They agree that they will never see each other again. And then, a week later, he walks into her courtroom.

Story
An original short story about Jack Reacher, available exclusively in digital format (ebook and audio), following the success of last year's "Second Son". Early in his military career, Jack Reacher is ordered undercover in Washington, to discover which one of four women, all staff officers on fast track careers, is leaking secrets. The suggested method: get close to each in turn. The obvious problem: the most receptive will be the guilty one, with an agenda of her own - to kill the investigation ... and the investigator.

The reason why Irene Cramer’s murder merits an FBI investigation becomes rapidly clear when key questions surface about the woman’s mysterious past.

A young lieutenant colonel in a stylish handmade uniform roars through the damp woods of Georgia in her new silver Porsche - until she meets a very tall soldier with a broken-down car. The hero is at the centre of formative myths in every culture and persists to this day in world-conquering books, films and TV shows. But why do these characters continue to inspire us, and why are they so central to storytelling? Scalpel-sharp on the roots of storytelling and enlightening on the history and science of myth, The Hero is essential listening for anyone trying to write or understand fiction.

The plot is weak.
There is no doubt that Joseph Finder is a talented story teller and I find myself engrossed in the story from the start. Joesph Finders life experiences are evident in the financial and business detail which is interesting and realistic. However by the end of the story I realise that the plot is unbelievable - the plot is just weak. This is the case with each of the Joseph Finder books that I have listened to. I get to the end of the story, the completion of the plot, and I am disappointed every time. The 'Vanished' is probably one of the worst. I guess I will keep reading / listening to Finder because I am sure that sooner or later he will get the plots sorted out (maybe get some advice from an editor) and then his stories will be excellent.

No Jack Reacher but a good yarn!
Would you listen to Vanished again? Why?
I found the story teller's voice compelling and it made the listening experience enjoyable. I will leave it in my library to listen to again.
What did you like best about this story?
I was looking for another Jack Reacher character which is for me a hard act to follow. I found Nick Heller to be a believable character which will perhaps appeal more to some readers.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I found the relationship between the lead character and his nephew interesting in it's development.

Not the best from Finder but a good listen. There are some disappointments in the plot but the characters are the most boring. But Finder and his style make the complete package worth a listen.
