Publisher's Summary

A blessed event becomes a nightmare for pregnant homicide detective Jane Rizzoli when she finds herself on the wrong side of a hostage crisis in this timely and relentless new thriller from the New York Times best-selling author of Body Double. A nameless, beautiful woman appears to be just another corpse in the morgue. An apparent suicide, she lies on a gurney, awaiting the dissecting scalpel of medical examiner Maura Isles. But when Maura unzips the body bag and looks down at the body, she gets the fright of her life. The corpse opens its eyes. Very much alive, the woman is rushed to the hospital, where with shockingly cool precision, she murders a security guard and seizes hostages... one of them a pregnant patient, Jane Rizzoli. Who is this violent, desperate soul, and what does she want? As the tense hours tick by, Maura joins forces with Jane's husband, FBI agent Gabriel Dean, to track down the mysterious killer's identity. When federal agents suddenly appear on the scene, Maura and Gabriel realize that they are dealing with a case that goes far deeper than just an ordinary hostage crisis. Only Jane, trapped with the armed madwoman, holds the key to the mystery. And only she can solve it, if she survives the night.

Realy enjoyed this book.

Still consider the storyline very far fetched and out there but Loreli King make all that go away.

Another good story

Good storyline, needed more readers for all of the characters. lots of characters to fit into the story but were all necessary to make the story.

An excellent story, well-narrated

An excellent Rizzoli & Isles book that combines an excellent murder-mystery story with themes on sex trafficking, beautifully brought together in a blend that highlights the issues without preaching. Great writing with lively characters that bring the action to life. An excellent story, well-narrated in the audiobook, that I highly recommend for murder-mystery and crime lovers, and of course all R&I fans!

Caution - have changed the title.

Previously listed with Rizzoli & Isles added onto the title.

Now listed simply as Vanish.

Which would all be fine, if it weren't for Audible now listing it as a book that has not been purchased.

I thought it was one of the ones missing from the series, that had become available, and so got it gladly, only to find a book already in my library that was identical in all but title.

What a waste of a credit.

I will be more careful in future.

What a belter

I did not know when I chose this book that it was the writer of an American drama called rizzoli & Isles. Having seen the show once or twice way back some years, I was able to visualise the characters, can I say it was so much better than the tv series and a thriller rather than an account the 2 ladies. A really twister & page turner of a plot.

Good concept but...

Good story, gritty subject but felt let down by the American obsession with “the good guys always win” towards the end.

Good story

this is another good read by Tess, its a shame the narrator didn't match up.
she sounded like she was putting on an American accent.

disappointing

I love Gerrison books so knew the story would be good. Sadly I couldn't get on with the narrator's accent and found myself switching off

Engaging and thought provoking

The story was engaging and the characters believable. Some of the story was tough to listen to but it did make me think about how life must be like for such people in real life. Very well narrated.
