But not all the Germans have left, and Kay finds herself in mortal danger. 

As the war reaches its desperate end, their twin stories play out, interlocked and separate, until their destinies are finally forced together.

Not Robert's usual standard

We have come to expect much from master story-teller Robert Harris. This book is not up to his usual standard. Long inconsequential passages in a story that was possibly too thin to demonstrate Harris at his blistering best
