Publisher's Summary

As a young girl, Lillian Walsh lost both her parents and a younger sister. Now in her 20s, after enduring the death of her adoptive mother, Lillian must find her place in the world. Just as her adoptive father is leaving for an extended trip to his native Wales, a lawyer appears at the door to inform Lillian that she has inherited a small estate from her birth parents - and that the sister she had long believed dead is likely alive.

When she discovers that her sister Grace is living in a city not far away, Lillian rushes to a reunion, fearful that the years of separation will make it hard to reconnect.

When the two sisters meet, Grace is not at all what Lillian expected to find. Even though her circumstances have been difficult, Grace has big dreams. Can Lillian set aside her own plans to join her sister in an adventure that will surely change them both?

Good Story with Timeless Relevance

I have read many books by Janette Oke, and this one is very similar in that she has excellent character development, in which their is tension, sorrow or difficulties, and interesting and great things happening in unexpected ways. Having been brought up as an orphan, living in various foster homes and children's homes, I could relate to how powerful a caring person can be in the lives of children who have so little. I love historical fiction. How it can open ones eyes to the past and how things could have been. But, in this case there is much in our current world that the book can also open up our eyes to. I am being careful not to give away the story, since you can read enough about it from the publishers and other reviews (mostly on Amazon [though the number is still small]). I think, if one looked for a "take home" message from the story, it would be to make a difference where you are. Though in the scope of any one life the amount of time given to any one cause might not be huge, and might not seem significant to an individual, it could be VERY Huge to those whom it impacts. Loved the book for entertainment value, but also it rang true regarding displaced children in any time, and prejudices that can further damage them--yet, how life saving change can come in surprising ways.
