Story
In 2056, the world's most powerful AI System, ARKUS, comes online. Created to extend human lifespans, it quickly makes world-changing discoveries in health science. It also develops an advanced VR headset...to let users experience time faster in virtual worlds.... Two years later, ARKUS releases World-Tree Online. The game's time-dilation makes...one hour of playtime feel like one month, allowing humans to virtually extend their lifespans. After an old gamer named Vincent joins the game an update begins that stretches the time-dilation to one year for every five seconds.

Story
For eons, conquering dungeons has been the most efficient way to become a strong adventurer. Although not everything is as straightforward as it seems. Several questions have always plagued the minds of those who enter these mythical places of power: why are there so many monsters? Where do the amazing weaponry and heavy gold coins come from? Why does the very air fill with life-giving energies? Cal has all of the answers to these age-old questions, for a very simple reason. He is a Dungeon Heart.

A haven for humanity. Factions forming and fracturing. The seeds of a new empire. Drew and his team are racing to create a system-recognized "Habitat". To make this happen, they must conquer more nodes, deal with an antagonistic superior officer, and possibly worst of all: Their own fear. Freeing the troll’s sacrificial captives was only the beginning. Now the remnants of humanity must find a safe place to call home. But Nat's Park isn't the safe haven he was promised it would be. Not only do internal politics threaten to rip the survivors apart, an unknown danger haunts the stadium.

Story
When virtual reality becomes real enough that people feel as if they're being transported to another world, Valia Online arrives. A man running from his past joins the game to forget it all. Calling himself Jack Thorn, he chooses an undead race, Deathlord. A mage by choice, and a swordsman by necessity, he soon finds out that he'll need to use much more than magic and steel to survive; strategy, creativity, and carefully chosen words can often accomplish what simple attacks can't.

Great book

Publisher's Summary
Kevin was a young man enjoying his college life when a car jumped the curb and crippled his body. Unable to support himself and dependent on others to meet his needs, Kevin was slipping into depression when his best friend convinced him to play a new game called Genesis Online. The concept was simple: a revolutionary artificial intelligence controlled the game world and adapted it to the actions of the players. Even the developers didn't know what course the game could take as it evolved.
Lured into the game by the prospect of earning real money, Kevin soon runs afoul of a man determined to control as much of Genesis as possible. He recruits other disenfranchised players to his side in his quest to find a way to prosper in the game. Can they stop the man who calls himself the king of Genesis from taking over everything?

Good idea just some plot holes
Good premise little limited in terms of world growth. Lot of potential. However their are some big plot holes like money. In game things are actually pretty cheap. I’ve seen people put 50$ easy in to free games and in this world that would take them really far. It just seems like oh most people don’t realize hey 5$ is enough to get my character taught all the skills in my class.

this is garbage
this book is a complete waist of time. the MC is a weak minded child that is portrayed in the stereotypical DnD style loser with a chip on his shoulders and zero conviction or mental fortitude, one of the worst kinds of losers. also the story makes no sense built around an advanced AI that lacks the same intelligence as my smartphone. the writer clearly doesn't play current games, understand technology, or grasp anything about gaming or tech culture. Getting really tied of writers jumping in to genres that explore topics they clearly know nothing about... so common in litrpg. .... it's like these writers played one table top game back in the 80s and just do basic guesswork after that

So slow
I am not sure if it was the narrator or the story, but this book comes across as unbearably slow. I even upped the speed and still could not take more than two hours before wanting to break my phone.

when someone's just unrealistically nice
The m.c. here is pretty naive, and has a weird hatred of charity for a guy who literally can't do much of anything. He also gets surprised every time he gets attacked by the same guild, and is shocked that people on the internet are rude. I think this kind of naive character is just a cheap way to show character development.

Something a little different.
I’ve listened to a lot of LitRPGs in the past couple years. I really enjoy the characters inside the game and in RL. Unwritten Rules is definitely in my top 10. Adam Horne doesn’t try to through to many characters at you for to try and remember who’s who. I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series.

Absolutely a great book.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Up until now, Alterworld, Live to play was the best RPG type book I have listened to. This book ranks very close to Alterworld, if not the same ranking. It has a lot of potential. With the Live to Play series, the first 3 were great, 4 was shaky and the 5-7 were terrible. We will have to see where this series goes. But I was 2 hours in and already checking to see if there were any other books out. I cannot wait until book 2 arrives. I didn't realize that Michael Goldstrom was also the one that did Alterworld as I didn't recognize the name. But he has a style and voice that just fits perfect for this genre.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I burned through this book in 2 days. I was tempted to listen to it all in one day. Had I not got such a late day start, I probably would have.

Story quality
I listened to the whole story to give it a chance. The story seemed rushed and the characters were not developed throughly
